Answer: Lou Gehrig

The Bambino reached the 50-home run mark four times, topping out at 60 in 1927. Foxx did it twice, once with the Athletics in 1932 by hitting 58, then with the Red Sox in 1938 with his 50. Mays did it twice also, 10 years apart. In 1955, Willie hit 51, then while winning the NL MVP, he hit 52 in 1965. Lou Gehrig never reached the 50-mark. He topped out at 49 twice in 1934 and 1936.
2. Which of the following Hall of Fame greats did not play their entire career with the same franchise?

Answer: Hank Aaron (Braves)

Kaline played from 1953-1974, spreading out 399 career home runs over 22 seasons. Palmer played 19 seasons with Baltimore, retiring in 1984 with three Cy Young awards. Gwynn played all his 20 seasons with San Diego, retiring in 2001, and being a Hall of Fame inductee in 2007. Aaron, who retired at the top of the heap with 755 home runs in 1976, spent his final two seasons as a Milwaukee Brewer.

This came after 21 loyal seasons with the Braves.

Ryan played with four teams over his 27-season career, retiring with an amazing 5714 strikeouts. Nolan led the league in strikeouts 11 times. More amazing was that he never finished closer than 14th in MVP voting, even going 21-16 with a record-setting 383 strikeouts in 1973 with the Angels. Ryan never won a Cy Young award either.

He was runner-up to Jim Palmer of the Orioles in 1973. Schmidt won three MVPs with the Phillies, Berra won his three with the Yankees, and Musial with the Cardinals.

Cox was a New York Yankee third baseman in 1968 and 1969, before taking the helm of the Braves in 1978.

Palmer, a 19-season Baltimore Oriole, never won 25 games in a season. He won three Cy Young awards in 1973, 1975, and 1976. Jim retired in 1984, and was a Hall of Fame inductee in 1990. The others listed are all Hall of Famers also. Marichal reached the 25-game mark three times with the Giants before retiring in 1975. Johnson of the Senators won 25+ seven times in his career, the last being in 1916. Mathewson of the Giants, led this group by doing it eight times, the last being in 1913.

Roberts, mainly with the Phillies, was the first pitcher in history to allow 500 home runs hit against him. Don Sutton spent most of his career with the Dodgers, and gave up 472 over his career. Warren Spahn who was a career Brave, gave up 434. Viola, who made his name with the Twins, didn't reach the 300-mark. He retired in 1996 after giving up 294 home runs.

Answer: Ted Williams

Both Speaker and Cobb passed the 3500-hit mark, while Brett of the Royals retired with 3154 in 1993. Williams' career was intermittantly interrupted by military service. Ted fell short of the barrier by almost 350 hits over 19 seasons, retiring with 2654, while an amazing 1117 of those being for extra bases.

Campanella played for nine seasons in the Negro Leagues before playing catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers for 10 seasons. Three times in his Dodger career, Roy won the NL MVP. Paige played for many seasons (mostly undocumented) in the Negro Leagues before joining the Cleveland Indians in 1948.

He unofficially won over 2000 games in the Negro Leagues. Robinson was the most famous of the Negro Leaguers because he was the first 'graduate' to play in Major League baseball in 1947 for the Dodgers.
10. Which of the following never stole 100 bases in a season?

Answer: Joe Morgan

Wills broke Ty Cobb's 1915 record of 96 in 1962 by stealing 104 bases. Brock broke Wills' record with 118 in 1974. Coleman broke the 100-mark three times with the Cardinals. Morgan of the Reds was not known for his speed, and topped out at 67 twice in 1973 and 1975. Joe was the 1975 and 1976 NL MVP.
