Lois and Hal are first seen watching TV together, but when Lois leaves, Hal switches the channel to a Mexican soap opera, known as telenovelas. Hal becomes enthralled by the drama that is unfolding. The next morning, Hal is crying while in the same clothes as the previous night. He then "sarcastically" admits to his wife that he stayed up all night watching telenovelas.

Craig Feldspar is a coworker of Lois at the Lucky Aide store. At the beginning of this episode, Craig proudly tells Lois that he has been promoted to Assistant Manager. The perks, Craig says, include a red badge with his name and title and an extra 2% discount. Craig, who we know has feelings for Lois, offers to share his discount with her. However, she declines.

Answer: Playing baseball inside the house

Malcolm says his favorite time of the day is "the twilight time between school ending and when your parents come home". We soon see why: the three brothers are chaotically misbehaving in their kitchen. Malcolm is melting a Superman toy inside a waffle iron, Dewey is eating whipped cream straight from the can, and Reese is sawing what appears to be a textbook in half. The children quickly try to hide their actions when they hear Hal approaching, though Reese hilariously pretends to be reading one of the torn book halves.

The kids do play baseball inside the house earlier in the season, at the beginning of the episode "Dinner Out".

Answer: Finley

At Marlin Academy, the military school in Alabama where Francis was sent, Finley is crying uncontrollably in his room. Francis comes in and asks him to do his homework for him. Since Finley isn't even listening, Francis asks what's wrong. Finley explains that his girlfriend Julie left him and even sent him back all his gifts, like heart-shaped chocolates and stuffed animals. Francis tells Finley that he should try to take his mind off the break-up. Of course, the oldest Wilkerson child suggests that the way to do this is by doing his homework.

Answer: Lois

When the two robbers brandish a gun and demand that Lois gives them the money in the cash register, Lois is barely surprised or scared. She tells them she's been through this several times before and decides the best way to get it over with is to quietly give them the money.

The criminals agree and take the money without hurting anyone. However, Craig takes it upon himself to speak to the customers about their experience, frustrating them. When the robbers reveal who they are, Craig gets scared and inadvertently reveals that they also have a safe.

The robbers imagine there is more money there, so they lock down the whole store.

Answer: Bats

Hal excitedly tells his children that he found an antique wardrobe in the trash, and couldn't understand why someone would throw it away. When Hal and his children finally manage to get the armoire through the door, they open it and are confused as to why it was full of black bowties.

Unfortunately, they quickly realize those are actually dozens of bats because they fly out all at once. Hal refers to them as "flying rats with radar" as they all hide underneath their kitchen table.

Answer: God Bless the U.S.A.

Trying to help Finley get over his heartache, Francis takes him to a strip club. Finley isn't having a very good time, but Francis seems to be enjoying himself. Later in the episode, Francis and Finley are arrested for participating in illegal cockfighting.

The song playing in the background is "God Bless the U.S.A.", one of Lee Greenwood's most popular songs. Alternatively known as "Proud to Be an American", the song has notably been played at conventions and rallies of former Republican U.S. presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump.

Answer: Baked potato

Resigned to living underneath the table while the bats leave, Hal and his children have dinner while hiding from the animals. Malcolm is the only one to point out that this situation is crazy since everyone else is acting as if this was normal. Reese then asks if anyone wants his baked potato. Quickly, they realize they weren't having potatoes for dinner and what Reese was looking at was a bat on his plate!

Answer: No

Throughout the entire episode, Craig refuses to give the robbers the passcode to access the safe. Though he is scared and indeed passes out several times, he refuses to give them the combination on principle. However, Craig reveals at the end of the episode that he doesn't actually know the code because upper management doesn't trust him with it. Craig confesses his love for Lois but it doesn't end well for him. Lois crushes his dreams of ever being with her, prompting him to aggressively stand up and throw the safe on the floor.

This leads to the safe accidentally opening and allows the robbers to leave with the small amount of cash that was inside.

Answer: Happy anniversary

Earlier in the episode, Hal explained to the boys that with some work, he could turn the armoire into an anniversary gift for Lois. At the end of the episode, Lois gets home exhausted from the robbery and finds Hal in bed, also exhausted from the ordeal with the bats.

They both hold hands as Lois asks why there's an armoire inside the house. Hal replies "Happy Anniversary", they both smile and then promptly fall asleep.
