2.9 "Galileo" Trivia Quiz

Answer: Space probe

In the opening scene, President Bartlet was with C.J. and remarked on the "Galileo" and how they had a good way of naming space probes in the past. He referenced past names of space probes, like "Atlantis", "Mercury", and "Apollo." C.J. simply commented that they were all good names.

Answer: Toby Ziegler

During the opening credits, Josh spoke with Toby and mentioned how it was amazing that it was 12:00 noon on the east coast and 9:00 a.m. on the west coast but it was 2:37 p.m., an obscure time, on Mars. Toby simply responded to him how Mars was in a different time zone. Toby then commented how Mars rotated on its axis once every 24 hours and 37 minutes to explain the obscure 37 minutes in Mars' time change.

Toby asked Josh if he liked green beans so then Josh wondered why he would ask that so Toby informed him of a story he just saw in "The Milwaukee Journal" about green beans. Toby cited the article as stating how President Bartlet did not like green beans. Josh simply responded by saying it must be a slow day in Milwaukee if that is their biggest news item.

Answer: Postmaster General

Leo went to speak to Toby and asked him if he knew how a stamp was chosen. Toby wondered what this was about so Leo informed him how the Postmaster General requested Toby's assistance. Leo remarked to Toby how The Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee recommended to the Postmaster General that they wanted Marcus Aquino to be put on the next commemorative stamp. Toby reluctantly agreed to help the Postmaster General select a stamp.

Answer: Interior

In Charlie's first scene, he walked with President Bartlet and gave him his schedule that day of meeting with officials from various Cabinet departments. His first meeting was with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at 3:00 p.m., then at 3:30 p.m. was a meeting with Health and Human Services, at 4 p.m. was a meeting with Interior, and then 4:30 with Agriculture. Charlie continued to give him his schedule by telling him that, at 5:00 p.m., he had to attend a reception for the United Auto Workers and then he had phone calls from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

President Bartlet asked Mrs. Landingham to screen any calls of his after 6:30 p.m. as he was going to go somewhere to read a book about Mars. Mrs. Landingham informed him how he would not as he had to attend a concert scheduled for later that night at the Kennedy Center. This was when she alerted him how Leo McGarry's office put the concert on his schedule.

President Bartlet got done talking to Leo about Galileo and his contradicting one of Artistotle's theories so he then called for Charlie. He asked Charlie to get Sam and C.J. to attend the concert at the Kennedy Center that night. He also told Charlie how Galileo contradicted one of Aristotle's theories so Charlie asked if Galileo saw the rings on Saturn. President Bartlet answered that Galileo did.

Josh and Donna were in Josh's office one day and they discussed stamps as it was Toby's job to help the Postmaster General select a new commemorative stamp. Donna commented to Josh how she found philately, a formal term for stamp collecting, fun and Josh said he did not care to hear the formal word for collecting stamps. Donna then informed him how the process through which a stamp becomes circulated began with the public.

Answer: John Carroll Lynch

Lynch, born on August 1st, 1963 in Boulder, Colorado played Jack in this episode of "The West Wing." Jack briefed President Bartlet on issues going on in Russia. This was the only episode in which Lynch appeared as Jack. He has also guest starred on the TV series', "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Star Trek: Voyager", and "Frasier."

Answer: Allison Smith

Smith, born on December 9th, 1969 in New York City, portrayed Mallory O'Brien in this episode. Mallory attended the concert at the Kennedy Center with President Bartlet, Sam, C.J., and many others. Smith guest starred as Mallory for a total of 11 episodes. She also guest starred on the TV shows, "Nip/Tuck", "Cold Case", and "Without a Trace."
