Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In a show of bad manners, what did Roger snap at Vicky the night Bill Malloy died? "Miss Winters! Don't be _______."

Answer: Rude

Roger learns that Vicky has been invited to dinner to "meet a real artist," and discovering she means Sam, tells her not to go. He reasons that since she lives at Collinwood, anything she does reflects on their family. Vicky replies, "then I won't tell anybody where I'm from!" He tells her she's rude.
2. What did Willie Loomis call Maggie Evans when she declined to let him buy her a drink at the Blue Whale?

Answer: Speedball

Willie called Maggie a speedball, which is hilarious since she was minding her own business and he was the one coming on fast and bothering her. Willie Loomis was a menacing character, disrespectful to men and downright threatening to women.
3. Jason McGuire was annoyed when Willie Loomis wanted what from him?

Answer: An invitation to join him at Collinwood

Jason was anxious to keep Willie away from Collinwood until he could get Elizabeth to agree to most of his demands, but Willie was in less-than-glamorous lodgings and wanted to be right on the spot in Collinwood.
4. Fisticuffs! With whom does Willie Loomis exchange blows at the Blue Whale?

Answer: Burke Devlin

Willie and Burke Devlin ended up squaring off at the Blue Whale. Burke was furious when he learned that Willie was menacing the ladies of Collinwood. Though Willie drew a knife, Burke managed to knock him out.
5. What is one of the main things Jason McGuire does that drives Roger Collins up the wall?

Answer: Drinks Roger's brandy and smokes Roger's cigars

Practically every time Roger turned around, Jason was stretched out on the Collinwood sofa, swilling Roger's liquor and filching his cigars.
6. How long did Mark Adams play the role of Sam Evans before David Ford took the role?

Answer: Approximately six weeks

Thankfully, David Ford showed up early in August 1966 to take the role from Mark Adams. The show had then been running for nearly six weeks. "Dark Shadows" lore has it that Adams did something to frighten child actor David Henesy (David Collins) so badly that Dan Curtis decided to dismiss Adams.
7. Who is the first person we see Burke Devlin kiss?

Answer: Carolyn Stoddard

Burke kissed Carolyn, even though by that time he was already showing signs of wanting Vicky. He liked both Bill Malloy and Mrs. Johnson, but probably wasn't interested in romantic activity with either.
8. What did Roger call Vicky when she showed him David's drawing of Collinwood?

Answer: Miss Pollyanna in a world of pain

Roger found Vicky's interest in David's talents inexplicable. He called her 'Miss Pollyanna in a world of pain' because he thought she was too naïve for her own good. He probably envied her innocence. He also whined about having been full of joy and love when himself a child, yet believed David should know how bad the world was so as not to be surprised later.
9. What was Sam Evans' occupation?

Answer: Painter of portraits and landscapes

Sam is a dedicated, gifted painter. He drinks far too much for his own good, something that perhaps began when he aided Roger in framing Burke for manslaughter. Thanks a lot, Roger!
10. Vicky Winters brought a note with her to Collinwood, words that she treasured though they gave her pain. The note was the closest thing she had to a birth certificate. What did it say?

Answer: Her name is Victoria. I cannot take care of her.

When Vicky was left at the foundling home in New York, the only thing she had with her was a letter stating her name and the fact that whoever left her was unable to take care of her. Vicky carried this heartbreaking note with her for the rest of her life at Collinwood. It is largely surmised that she was the firstborn daughter of Elizabeth Collins Stoddard.
