Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Anna's mother died when she was a baby. Was the death a complication from Anna's birth?

Answer: Yes

In White Plains, New York in 1988, Margaret Alcott sings to her newborn daughter in an attempt to get her to fall asleep. It proves difficult. It takes until night falls before the baby finally falls asleep. Margaret heads to bed, exhausted, and asks her husband, Ned, if all of the baby stuff is what he thought it'd be; neither of them really knew how to feel. Ned thinks the baby is like a potato with eyes while Margaret thinks it's a whole different life altogether.

Margaret expresses that she might need to go to the doctor (for herself) since she's been feeling a pain in her leg-- like a charley horse that won't go away. Ned tells her she's okay and they both head to bed. The truth is, she's not. Late in the night she struggles with the pain until it becomes overwhelming...and before too long she suffers a pulmonary embolism.
2. Who, of these, held Anna as a baby on the night her mother died?

Answer: Nicolette

Rushing to the hospital with Anna, Ned could only watch as Margaret was wheeled into the operating room. Unfortunately for both of them, it was too late to begin to help. Only a moment later, the doctor informed Ned that she'd suffered a pulmonary embolism, likely a complication brought on by the recent birth. Attempting to deal with the grief and the baby at the same time, Ned tries to coo Anna to sleep before a nurse arrives to take her from his arms.

She sings a lullaby, 'Rock-a-Bye-Baby', and it seems to do the trick. Ned doesn't notice as the nurse, Nicolette, includes Anna's name in the lyrics.
3. Babette Eno's funeral is anticipated to be at which location?

Answer: SAG Headquarters

Anna awakens abruptly when Dexter finds her passed out in bed and it's then that she discovers the tragic news that Babette Eno, her awards season rival (and the Golden Globe recipient), passed away, having been decapitated in a car crash.

Siobhan rings up Anna's phone to discuss the news, and despite Anna's apprehension, she takes the call, getting deeper into a conversation about her public image, especially in light of the accident and the upcoming Oscar nomination announcements. Ashley and Ashleigh, also on the call, reveal that they've booked Anna to be the headlining speaker at Babette's impending funeral service. It'll be at the SAG headquarters, and everyone'll be there. Despite Anna being prescribed bedrest, she says she'll be there too.
4. It's en route to Babette's funeral that Anna is informed she's been nominated for which of these awards?

Answer: SAG Award

Anna finds that when she flies across the country to Babette's funeral, her body seems to take it well; she feels better, as she claims to Siobhan on the way, than when she left. In the meantime, Siobhan wrote her a moving speech to give, and it'll pair nicely with the fact that Anna was just nominated for a SAG Award. Unfortunately, the late Babette was not.

When her time finally comes to take the altar and commence the speech, it appears that the words written for her are little more than a clever publicity stunt, reframing the death in an effort to get Anna noticed for award votes. And it works. Some of the voters in the crowd are convinced.

When Anna returns home that evening, she finds that a black cat has snuck into the house through an open window. She follows it outside, finding it waiting next to another discarded doll. She brings the doll inside, placing it with the others in the basement.
5. What name was given to the black cat Anna has often seen at the house?

Answer: Felix

Dexter meets with his father at a bar in Sag Harbor to discuss Dexter's mother. His father claims that she's just crazy, and she's always tried to entangle her in his business as much as he can. He asks Dexter not to testify at the upcoming trial and enquires after Anna's thoughts. The conversation doesn't go much further before devolving to criticisms about Dexter's current wife-- she's an actress, after all.

Anna is woken up the next morning by Nicolette who lets her know of her recent concern, having received a Summer Day doll on her doorstep in the middle of the night. Nicolette has to ask if she thinks someone is trying to give her some sort of message. Both are interrupted when the cat meows at the door, having let itself in again. Fortunately, Nicolette's seen him before; he's a stray who's been around the property for years. She named the cat Felix.
6. How many Summer Day dolls does Anna ultimately find or receive?

Answer: Five

Anna takes her new doll and brings it to the basement with the rest and, with all five of them together, she decides to bring up her phone app, placing pins on the locations where each of them was found. What she finds, when she draws the lines between them, is that their locations form a star or, worse, a pentagram. Nicolette interrupts her while she tries to parse the meaning of it, inviting her out to the yard to take a swim in the pool.

Out back, Nicolette suggests that all she wanted to do when she was pregnant was float in the water, and Anna's baby boy will probably enjoy it as well. Anna questions how Nicolette could know the sex of the child, and Nicolette claims she has a sixth sense for it.

When Anna finally gets into the water she has an awful vision of claws piercing through her stomach. As she looks to the side of the pool she sees two black goats watching on. Nicolette asks if she needs help and Anna screams at her to leave her alone.
7. Does Kamal know why Talia didn't install cameras in the basement of the house?

Answer: No

Anna gets out of the pool and rushes to Dexter for help but she stops herself instead, apologizing for the way she's been acting recently. Dexter, likewise, apologizes for the awful things he said on the night of the Golden Globes. They both recommit to getting through it together. Neither notices Nicolette watching from outside.

Dex reminds Anna of the gallery debut that evening and she recommits to attending. While Dex has to leave in a short time to prep with Sonia, he asks Anna to meet there later. She doesn't show Dex the claw holes in her stomach, still there from the pool.

That evening, Anna asks about the lack of cameras in the basement. Talia explicitly asked that none be placed there. Kamal doesn't know why; he just follows orders.
8. Hamish Moss decides to end his relationship with Siobhan, claiming he can't live with his guilty conscience. What happens to him?

Answer: He dies

In New York, Hamish, the director of 'The Auteur', decides to break up with Siobhan when they meet up on a rooftop patio for the evening. Siobhan initially takes it well, but she stops when Hamish attempts to perform a grand gesture, dousing his script in lighter fluid and tossing it on a fire. When Siobhan begins to leave, Hamish threatens to go to the press to tell them everything-- a last-ditch effort to clear his guilty conscience of what he was made to do for his fame and success.

Anna, meanwhile, arrives at the gallery opening and joins Talia and the others in celebrating Sonia's artwork. Anna has to ask Talia about the basement and the lack of cameras and though Talia brushes it off, suggesting she's looking into something that isn't of significance. When Anna pries deeper, however, Talia hints that the actress' success isn't solely her own. Talia reminds her that she was the one who suggested to Dexter that they start dating in the first place.

In the restroom, Anna suffers another vision, once again encountering her crazed fan and pushing her to the ground...again cracking her head open on the sink. This time the woman rises from the floor as Anna makes to leave. As Anna leaves the restroom she runs directly into none other than Ivy, who introduces herself but claims never to have met Anna before. Anna, however, insists that Ivy pretended to be the nurse at the hospital. She asks, sternly, that Ivy stay away from her family.
9. Sonia gifts Anna with which of these when she attends the gallery opening?

Answer: A painting

Before Anna can leave, Sonia greets her and thanks her for attending. Taking Anna across the room, Sonia kisses Anna's hands and face, telling her she's all better. Sure enough, her cuts and scrapes appear to have vanished. Bringing Anna through the gallery, Sonia kindly says that she wishes to gift one of her paintings, one done in a vibrant, visceral red, to her. After Dexter gives a quick speech thanking the women in his life, Anna suffers a mysterious vision in which she sees Sonia, Ivy, Talia, and Nicolette circle her, placing their hands on her body, and embracing her. She only comes to when Siobhan arrives and takes her away.

Siobhan ends up bringing Anna out for a meal and Anna reveals that she knows something is wrong. Siobhan says that in the rush towards awards season, she forgot to be a good friend, and starting from that point, she would make a conscious effort to disembowel anyone standing in her way. It's a shame, however, that Anna wants to quit the business.
10. Who does not attend the gallery opening?

Answer: Dexter's mother

When Anna admits to wanting to quit show business, exhausted by the events in her life-- the stalking, the deaths, the baby-- Siobhan says she won't let her leave. Siobhan slaps her in the face, suggesting that the unfulfilment of her dream will be a failure not just for everyone else, but Anna and her unborn baby. It's the straight talk that Anna realizes she needs. Unfortunately, that's the moment when Anna looks at the news on a TV screen-- Hamish Moss was found dead in an apparent suicide. Siobhan suggests it'll be good press for the movie.

As Siobhan gets a drink from the bar, Anna looks back at the card in her purse-- the one that says 'YOU CAN'T TRUST ANY OF THEM'. She considers the number on the back and calls it, hearing a phone ringing in the restaurant behind her. It's Ms. Preecher. The woman says they can chat later-- not when Siobhan is right there.

At the end of the night, Dexter leaves the gallery and visits his mother's house, inquiring as to why she did not attend the opening. When he arrives he heads up to her bedroom and finds her, dead in the ensuite bathroom with her wrists slashed open. On the mirror, written in lipstick, is the phrase 'I tried to warn you'.
