Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Did this season of "The Amazing Race Australia" commence in Australia?

Answer: No

As the sun rose over the city of New Delhi, India, eleven teams of two, each containing a celebrity, united at the starting line at the Sunder Nursery, an expansive garden next to Humayun's Tomb. From there they would embark on a race that would result in a $100,000 AUD prize for the charity of their choice, but only for the winning team to hit the finish line at the end.

As soon as Beau gave the go, racers could open their first clue and hop into a tuk-tuk, directing it to their first clue box at the Royal Palace Hotel in Chandni Chowk.
2. In Leg 1, racers completing the 'Chicken Dish' Detour option in Delhi's Chandni Chowk Market had to buy ingredients for which of these?

Answer: Butter Chicken

Arriving at the Royal Palace Hotel, racers opened their first Detour clue of the race and were required to select from one of two tasks.

In 'Chicken Dish', racers headed into Chandi Chowk for some traditional butter chicken. Visiting Aslam Chicken, they would receive a shopping list and be directed into the market to purchase the ingredients needed to make the famous butter chicken sauce-- garam masala, turmeric, garlic, butter, and tomatoes. Once teams dropped off the items, they could trade them for their next clue.

Emma and Hayley, Alli and Angie, Harry and Teddy, Bec and Kate, Peter and Frankie, and Dane and Bow all took on this challenge.
3. How many teams ultimately finished the 'Wedding Wish' Detour option in Delhi in Leg 1?

Answer: Five

Kinari Bazar was the destination teams needed to venture to for the 'Wedding Wish' Detour option, so diving deeper into Chandni Chowk, they could pursue this if they so chose. For this task, racers needed to find two marked mannequins in the bazar streets, both dressed in traditional wedding garb, and memorize their outfits. Then, using their leg money, they had to purchase the proper items from the local shops, then pose for a photo with the correct styling to get their next clue.

Darren and Tristan, Grant and Chezzi, Ben and Jackie, Jana and Cor, and George and Pam all went for this task.
4. In Leg 1, racers had to join a pool party and learn a phrase in which language?

Answer: Hindi

Completing the Detour allowed teams to proceed deeper into New Delhi, joining some local children to learn Hindi. For this task, teams raced to the Defence Colony Club where they could join a group of kids at a pool party. The catch is that they needed to properly memorize and recite a phrase provided to them which, when translated, would say 'Please help me. I need to get to Qutub Minar.' Little did teams know, this phrase would help them on their way to the next Pit Stop.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in New Delhi, being eliminated in eleventh place?

Answer: Dane and Bow

Once teams had their Hindi phrases memorized they would receive their final clue of the leg and use the phrase they'd recited to find their way (by tuk-tuk) to the first Pit Stop of the race, the minaret landmark of Qutub Minar, literally translating to Victory Tower. There, Darren and Tristan managed to navigate their way to a first place win at the last few steps, claiming a victory prize entitling them to a luxury room at the Pit Stop hotel.

After a long, hot day, it was Dane and Bow who checked into the Pit Stop in last place, eliminating the race's oldest contestant and leaving ten teams still going.
6. Arriving in Agra, India in Leg 2, teams needed to deliver which of these to a local business?

Answer: Tea

Making their way into Leg 2, teams were taken from their Pit Stop hotels and transported by bus four hours out of New Delhi to the city of Agra. Upon arriving at the Inter State Bus Terminal, racers could locate their clue box and head out into this central city.

Their first order of business involved hopping into a tuk-tuk and visiting the Ruchi Chaiwalla Tea Stall. There, racers could grab an order of masala chai, deliver it to a local business, and get a business card from the recipient that they could trade to the tea store owner to get their next clue.
7. Racers completing the 'Make It Slick' Detour task in Leg 2 finished laundry in what Indian river?

Answer: Yamuna River

Finishing the tea task allowed teams to pick up their Detour clue for this second leg of the race.

One of the options provided to teams was 'Make It Slick'. For this, racers headed to the edge of the Yamuna River with a sack of dirty laundry and, using the local technique, they had to wash all of their provided clothes in a vat, then wash out all the garments by beating them against a plank to get the suds out. After leaving them hanging to dry, they could get their next clue.

Darren and Tristan, Emma and Hayley, Alli and Angie, Jana and Cor, Ben and Jackie, and Peter and Frankie all chose to wash up.
8. The 'Make It Stick' Detour task in Leg 2 had teams making which of these in Agra?

Answer: Cow patties

In the 'Make It Stick' Detour task, racers got dirty at the Blue Flower School. After grabbing hay and water to cow manure, racers needed to ball up the fuel source in an effort to prepare cow patties to dry in the sun. If they could make sixty-four total patties in the right size and consistency and get them to stick on a brick wall, they'd be given their next clue.

Harry and Teddy, George and Pam, Grant and Chezzi, and Bec and Kate opted for this down-and-dirty challenge.
9. Teams encountered an Intersection in Agra in Leg 2, requiring them to work together to perform which of these?

Answer: Bollywood dance routine

After the Detour, racers needed to make their way to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University to join a dance troupe and learn and perform a Bollywood dance routine for the judges. The catch was that as soon as they arrived at their destination, they encountered an Intersection, forcing them to work alongside another team until further notice to complete the task. This meant that the teams were split up as follows: Jana and Cor and Harry and Teddy; Alli and Angie and Emma and Hayley; Darren and Tristan and Ben and Jackie; Grant and Chezzi and Peter and Frankie; and George and Pam and Bec and Kate.

After this task, racers were no longer intersected.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 2 without reaching the actual Pit Stop?

Answer: Grant and Chezzi

Once racers finished the Bollywood task they were able to make their way to the race's second Pit Stop, Mehtab Bagh, across the river from the Taj Mahal. By excelling in the Bollywood dance challenge, Emma and Hayley and Alli and Angie arrived in first and second place, effectively winning the leg.

Though George and Pam and Bec and Kate, the last teams to come through the Bollywood dance task, took an hour-long penalty at the challenge site (as they elected not to complete the challenge), they were not eliminated. Instead, it was Grant and Chezza who were unable to continue racing after Grant collapsed on the race course due to heat exhaustion. Once he'd recovered, all other teams had checked in and Beau eliminated the couple before they could find the Pit Stop location, bringing the mat to them instead. They placed tenth overall.
