Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chandni Chowk was the backdrop for teams' first leg in "The Amazing Race Australia 7". How many teams raced through it?

Answer: Eleven

Hearkening back to pre-COVID cast sizes, this season of the race brought together eleven teams of two composed of celebrities and, generally, family members battling it out to win money for their favourite charities. With this in mind, the eleven pairs started the race at the Sunder Nursery in India's capital city, Delhi, before racing into the marketplace of Chandni Chowk for their first Detour.

The first Pit Stop awaited teams at Qutub Minar, which also acted as the first elimination Pit Stop in "The Amazing Race Australia 2", eleven years earlier.
2. Which team did not reach the Pit Stop at Mehtab Bagh in Agra, India?

Answer: Grant and Chezzi

Teams took a ride from Delhi to Agra in Leg 2, engaging with cultural challenges in the vicinity of the world-famous Taj Mahal. What resulted was an exhausting day in overwhelming heat and, during an Intersection in which teams needed to work together to complete a Bollywood dance routine, Grant and Chezzi were overcome and unable to land on the Pit Stop mat waiting at the Mehtab Bagh, across the Yamuna River from the famous landmark.

The two were met by Beau and the mat on their way there. Neither of them saw the Taj Mahal on their trip as a result.
3. The city of Kochi, India was the only one to feature which race mechanic?

Answer: Fast Forward

The canal-laden coast of Southwestern India was the teams' third destination and it would push them in new ways, forcing them to get sporty or artsy depending on their Detour and having them take a driving test in an auto-rickshaw. After taste-testing a basket of bananas, racers could head to the Pit Stop, the first non-elimination mat of the race. Darren and Tristan, who placed first, managed to do so by taking the race's only Fast Forward.

It required that they both get nose piercings at a local jeweller's and wear the jewellery to the Pit Stop.
4. Leg 4 had teams continue racing as soon as they hit the Pit Stop. It took place on what Malaysian island?

Answer: Langkawi

The tropical paradise of Langkawi was the site of the fourth and fifth legs of the race (though teams headed out after an overnight stay on the beach and made their way to George Town partway through the latter leg. Here, racers frequented the beach for the most part, taking on tasks that had them parasailing, stand-up paddleboarding, caving, and crab farming.

At the end of the fourth leg, teams were told to keep on racing once they hit the Pit Stop mat, but father and daughter team Peter and Frankie were still eliminated.
5. The city of George Town, Malaysia was, coincidentally, the site at which Pam and George won their first leg of the race.

Answer: False

Quite the opposite. Though Pam and George had a strong showing upon arriving in this Penang city in Leg 5, the sixth leg of the race saw them drop to the last position throughout the day, and by the time they checked in at the mid-way point of the race atop Penang Hill, they discovered that they were eliminated from the race altogether, placing seventh overall. During their visit, racers got friendly with the locals, indulging in local customs, traditional dishes, and tradeswork.
6. What Cambodian landmark, seen here, did teams visit in Leg 7?

Answer: Angkor Wat

Spending the seventh leg of the race in and around Siem Reap, Cambodia, the six remaining teams had most of their day spent taking an excursion through the Angkor Wat temple complex, where they scaled ruins, made deliveries to monks, and completed their Detour task.

After this, a quick visit back to the city led to a difficult eating challenge involving numerous bugs (and fried tarantulas). Bec and Kate opted to take a penalty instead of eating the unexpected meal, and because of this they were eliminated from the race.
7. The freshwater Tonlé Sap, visited in Leg 8, saw how many teams visit its floating villages?

Answer: Five

Teams remained in Cambodia in Legs 8 and 9, heading out from Siem Reap and returning to it to close out this stretch of the race. The former of these had the five pairs facing a non-elimination Pit Stop, but only after a long day on Tonlé Sap during which they learned Khmer with local schoolchildren in a floating village, collected/made food the local way, and spent time back on shore preparing rice. Emma and Hayley were able to win both of these legs while mother and son team Jana and Cor were sent home at the end of Leg 9.
8. In Leg 10, teams raced by boat around Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, part of what Asian nation?

Answer: Malaysia

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, on the northern tip of Borneo, was the spot for the final four to commence their tenth leg of the race, and while in this beautiful, rainforested city they not only needed to push their physical mettle to the limit, but join in the local conservation efforts, choosing to either help restore the coral reefs or the mangrove forests. Teams essentially circled the Gaya Island Resort Marine Centre on boats and on foot before checking in with Beau at the mat and discovering they'd reached the final non-elimination point.
9. Teams fed orangutans in Leg 11 when they visited Kuching. It was part of which type of task?

Answer: Intersection

Racers found a second Intersection in their penultimate leg (the first having been in the second leg, back in Agra), and it meant that the four racing teams had to buddy up to join the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in supporting their local residents-- the orangutans.

After purchasing supplies from the market in Kuching, Malaysia, teams drove off to meet the monkeys, prepare their meals, and learn a bit about them. Additionally, since they survived non-elimination in the previous leg, Alli and Angie had a Speed Bump task relating to setting up the monkey highway.

These tasks were followed by a six-kilometre raft ride and a blowpipe Road Block before the racers checked in at their last Pit Stop.
10. This season of "The Amazing Race Australia" ended in what international city?

Answer: Kuala Lumpur

After eleven legs, racers ended of their trip across Asia with a stop in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, for a series of night-time tasks through the city that had them searching a labyrinthine bookstore, joining a local dance crew, and finishing up a final tough memory task in front of the Petronas Towers.

At the end of the race, all three teams stepped on the Finish Line at the same time, splitting the $100,000 AUD prize between their charities and becoming the first-ever joint winners of an "Amazing Race" season. Emma and Hayley and Alli and Angie became the first all-female teams to win the Australian version of the show while the latter became the first mother-daughter team, internationally, to see a finale to completion.
