"The Boulet Brothers' Dragula" - Season 1 Quiz

Celebrating alternative and horror drag in only a handful of episodes, this first season of "Dragula" brought in only nine drag performers, all of whom were from the Los Angeles area, as they competed for a cash prize and the title. A low-budget effort on the 'Hey Qween!' YouTube channel, the first season acted as a full-scale pilot, allowing the series to stake claim on a subcategory of drag yet to be examined closely in mainstream programming.

Answer: Exterminations

Unlike in a show like "RuPaul's Drag Race" where the bottom queens week-to-week are forced to Lip Sync for their Lives, the Boulet Brothers force Exterminations on the lowest performers (anywhere between two to four of them), forcing them to keep their cool in the face of terrifying stunts and ordeals.

These kinds of stunts ranged from being buried alive to eating weird things to, yes, lip syncs if it came down to it. The Exterminations would become a campy part of the process behind the show, persisting into later seasons.

Answer: The Wicked Witch of the East

At the start of the competition, Dracmorda and Swanthula introduced the lucky queens who would be competing for the title of World's First Drag Supermonster, bringing them forth to showcase their first looks in a group. For their first challenge, they were set upon with the task to design a look inspired by the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz", and for the floor show, they'd have to act the part by recreating her death scene.

Vander Von Odd won the episode while three queens, Loris, Meatball, and Pinche Queen, were forced to face the Extermination Challenge, winding up buried in a coffin for a psychological trial. Pinche Queen didn't return following this challenge.

Answer: Female wrestlers of the '80s

Episode two was all about toughness, and the eight remaining competitors had to show both grit and glamour by bringing their best 'Ladies of the '80s' looks to the floor show to be judged by the Boulets and photographer Magnus Hastings.

After being in the bottom in the previous week, Loris portrayed Nuclear Nellie to a victory this time. The lowest four participants, however, had to fight in a muddy pool in an elimination bracket for their Extermination Challenge. The Boulets ultimately decided to kill off Ursula Major when the dust settled.

Answer: Death Valley

This time around, the Boulets had the competitors head out into the hot and sandy expanse beyond Los Angeles County, plunking them down near a trailer out in Death Valley to showcase their best zombie looks in a floor show and morning photo shoot. The queens had to camp it up and gore it up for the pair, and what resulted was a dual win for both Melissa Befierce and Vander Von Odd.

Though Foxie Adjuia and Loris were definitively in bottom on the Death Valley challenge (the former for asense of defeat, and the latter for a uncertain character in their floor show), the Boulets asked Vander Von Odd, specifically, to prove that they had the punk sensibility to showcase their filthy side, requesting that they voluntarily join in the Extermination challenge, which had them all eating pig brains with no hands.

With Vander proving their ability to get messy and Loris forgoing their two years of vegetarianism, it was Foxie who was done away with.

Answer: Nails

The fourth challenge of the season was a 'basic' one as the Boulets had the queens stay in and don their most basic 'pretty in pink' drag. Acting as a counterpoint to the typical horror drag of the show, this challenge required something more soft, feminine, basic, and beautiful.

After showing off their garments in the floor show, Melissa Befierce and Meatball were declared safe (with the latter winning the episode) while everyone else joined in for the Extermination, a lip sync to Alaska's "Nails" while their competitors pelted them with food. Loris was, in her third bottom placing, finally eliminated alongside Xochi Mochi.

Answer: San Francisco

It was a field trip for the final four as the Boulets sent them to San Francisco to perform at Oasis for Heklina and Peaches Christ, appearing onstage as individual segments of a group medley number for the crowd of a punk drag performance.

Though all four participants received critiques from the veteran drag stars, all four were placed in the bottom and had to contend with a tie-breaking extermination round, dressing as sea monsters and performing in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay. They had two days to make their look and show themselves off emerging from the water. It was Meatball who was eliminated this time, leaving three.

Answer: Camp

The final round of the competition involved two elements, the first of which had the Boulets bringing back most of the eliminated contestants to ask questions of the final three at a Last Supper. Then, the remaining contenders were sent home for two weeks, tasked with creating three separate looks for the final floor show, each encapsulating a different facet of becoming the next Drag Supermonster.

This involved one look epitomizing glamour, another depicting filth, and a final one embodying horror.

Answer: Vander Von Odd

After the performers hit the runway for their floor show in the season finale, the Boulets deliberated and crowned Vander Von Odd the World's First Drag Supermonster, deliberating to come to the conclusion that they stepped up in fields that they originally felt they were lacking. Vander would receive the $10,000 USD grand prize along with the title before being crowned and doused in pig's blood at the end of her coronation walk, naturally.
