Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dr. Bob Hartley wakes up from a bad dream.

Answer: Newhart

The final episode of "Newhart" called "The Last Newhart" aired on May 21, 1990. Investors have bought out the town, except for the Stratford Inn, as Dick (Bob Newhart) refused to sell. Since the rest of the town was turned into a golf course, Dick and Joanna keep dodging golf balls that come into the inn. Time passes and no one is left. At the end of the episode, people who lived there, such as Stephanie (Julia Duffy) return. Joanna (Mary Frann) tells them to stay at the inn.

Joanna, who is wearing a Japanese wig (because the investors were Japanese), is talking to them all about staying. Everyone is talking at once, and Dick can't take it anymore. He yells, "I've got to get out of this mad house!" He opens the door and is hit in the head by a golf ball, which knocks him out.

Dr. Bob Hartley (also Bob Newhart, reprising his character from "The Bob Newhart Show") wakes up in bed next to Emily (Suzanne Pleshette) and tells her about a crazy dream he had about owning an inn in Vermont. He describes the people, and she tells him "That settles it. No more Japanese food before you go to bed."

So, Bob Hartley actually dreamed the entire "Newhart" series.
2. Diane Chambers is back!

Answer: Cheers

In the final episode of "Cheers" called "One For the Road," the barflies are watching the Cable Ace Awards. They want to see women in tight-fitting dresses, especially Kim Alexis (who guest stars as herself). Kim and Mike Ditka (guest staring as himself) present the award for Best Writing.

One of the nominees and the winner of the award is Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Diane gives a very long acceptance speech. As she is talking Sam (Ted Danson) comes out of his office. He mentions that Kim Alexis is really good-looking. Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) tells him, "Look to her right."

Meanwhile, Carla (Rhea Perlman) loses it when she sees Diane on the TV, so they convince her that she is hallucinating.

Diane calls Sam to thank him for the congratulatory telegram he sent her. He tells her life is great and mentions he is married with four children. Diane says she is married with three kids. Sam tells her if she is ever in Boston, stop by with her husband.

After he gets off the phone, he tells Norm (George Wendt) that he invited Diane because she wouldn't show up. After all, he knows she knows that she is lying. After Sam goes into his office, Norm mutters, "She's coming."

Sure enough, she shows up with Reed (Mark Harelik). However, Sam is right, Diane is not married. Reed is gay, and his partner Kevin (Anthony Heald) shows up later. Kevin is upset, thinking Reed is on a date with Sam. Meanwhile, Sam has Rebecca (Kirstie Alley) posing as his wife. Rebecca is a basket case because her boyfriend Don (Tom Berenger) left her when she turned down his proposal.
3. Ross Geller and Rachel Green are finally together.

Answer: Friends

The final episode of "Friends" called "The Last One" aired on May 6, 2004. Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) is moving to Paris for work. Ross (David Schwimmer) is afraid he has lost Rachel forever. Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) rushes him to the airport. Unfortunately, she drives to the wrong airport. Phoebe calls Rachel to let her know there is a problem with the "left phalange" of the plane. All the passengers get off the plane. By the time they get there, passengers are re-boarding. Ross tries to get on the plane, but without a boarding pass, he is not allowed. Phoebe screams "Rachel!" and Rachel steps off again.

Ross asks her not to leave, and he tells her he still loves her. Rachel gets on the plane. Crushed, Ross returns home alone. When he checks his messages, there is a call from Rachel. She tells him that she loves him too. As she is telling him she realizes she has to get off the plane to see Ross. Ross starts yelling at the machine, "Let her off the plane!" The message is cut off, and Ross is hitting the machine asking "Did you get off the plane?"

Rachel appears in this doorway and says, "I got off the plane."
4. "I love you all - class dismissed."

Answer: Boy Meets World

The final episode of "Boy Meets World," called "Brave New World," aired in May 2000.

At the end of the episode, they along with Shawn (Rider Strong) and Eric (Will Friedle) have returned to Mr. Feeney's (William Daniels) classroom. They want to get a final lesson from their teacher.

They also want Feeney to admit he loves them. Cory points out he hasn't talked to any other students. Feeney refuses. They all say goodbye to him, one at a time, in a very emotional scene. After they had left the classroom, Feeney said, "I love you all - class dismissed."
5. The Korean War is over.

Answer: M*A*S*H

The final episode of "M*A*S*H" "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" first aired on February 28, 1983. When it aired, it was a 2.5-hour-long episode. It is one of the most-watched episodes in history.

Before that, Hawkeye (Alan Alda) had a PTSD-induced nervous breakdown and is talking with the psychiatrist, Sidney (Allan Arbus).

Klinger (Jamie Farr) meets Soon-Lee Han (Rosalind Chao) and falls in love with her. Ironically, despite all his attempts to get sent home from Korea, he is the one who stays, because Soon-Lee wants to find her missing parents.

When Hawkeye is leaving, B.J. (Mike Farrell) (who left earlier in the episode without saying goodbye) tells Haweye he left him a note. When Haweye's helicopter takes off the word "Goodbye" is spelled out in rocks.
6. Michelle got her memory back.

Answer: Full House

On May 23, 1995, the final episode of "Full House" called "Michelle Rides Again" aired. Michelle (played by twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen) enters a horse riding competition. Michelle and Elizabeth decide to forget the contest, which is no longer fun because of the parents, and go horseback riding. Michelle falls off the horse and gets amnesia.

However, Lucas then asks Dorothy to marry him "for real." She says yes, and they get married.

Dorothy leaves and returns several times to say goodbye before she finally leaves for good.

The final episode of "Family Ties," called "Alex Does Not Live Here Anymore" aired in 1989. Alex (played by Michael J. Fox) gets his dream job on Wall Street, and he is moving to New York City. His mother, Elyse (Meredith Baxter), is having a hard time letting go, and she finds Alex's over-excitement to be annoying. The two have a fight when Alex does not want to go to pizza with the family.

They make up before he leaves, and everyone says goodbye to him "in a way befitting of the youngest executive at O'Brien, Mathers & Clark." But then, after he leaves, he returns and says, "I love you all." The family shares a big group hug.
9. Steve and DJ get married.

Answer: Fuller House

The final episode of "Fuller House," called "Our Very Last Show, Again" aired on June 2, 2020.

The three couples are married by Joey McIntyre, from New Kids on the Block, who just got his online minister's license.

Everyone is going to leave DJ's home, but then they decide to stay. Stephanie announces that she is pregnant.

John Stamos, Bob Saget, and Dave Coulier reprise their "Full House" roles.
10. Four friends go to jail for breaking The Good Samaritan Law.

Answer: Seinfeld

In 1998, "Seinfeld" aired its finale, aptly called "The Finale." Jerry (played by Jerry Seinfeld) and George (played by Jason Alexander) finally had someone pick up the pilot for their series. They, along with Kramer (Michael Richards), and Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), go to Paris, but their private plane is forced to land in Massachusetts.

They see a man being carjacked, and instead of helping, Kramer films it while they make fat jokes. The man tells an officer, and the four are arrested for breaking The Good Samaritan Law. The law says that you have to help those in trouble when possible. Character witnesses come in to speak against them. These witnesses include guest stars from the past, such as Soup Nazi (played by Laurence Tomashoff) return.
