Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Boo
Answer: Sirena Beach
When Mario heads into Hotel Delfino after the first episode in Sirena Beach he'll come across a handful of instances where he'll come face-to-face with its deceased denizens. Although a handful of sneaky Boos will get in Mario's way, he can use others, spraying Pink Boos to create helpful platforms to ascend into crawlspaces or higher floors.
A King Boo can be found in the course's fifth episode provided Mario can press his luck on the roulette wheel in the Hotel Delfino Casino.
2. Chain Chomp
Answer: Pianta Village
A couple of episodes in Pianta Village involve keeping the Chain Chomps in check, and it's mainly because, when left to their own devices, they're rambunctious foes (and, apparently, also friends). The first of these instances involves helping three angry Chain Chomps cool off, and doing this requires that you hose them down and, when they're less angry, shooting them into the stream in the middle of the village.
The next instance has you aiming and firing a Chain Chomp into the circular spa on the far side of town.
3. Toadsworth
Answer: Delfino Plaza
Flying in with Mario and Peach as they head out on their tropical island vacation, Toadsworth holes up in Delfino Plaza once Mario is convicted for crimes he never committed and, since it's on Mario to restore the sunshine to Isle Delfino altogether, you have to imagine it's not an altogether relaxing time especially after Peach is kidnapped.
This is Toadsworth's debut "Mario" series game, though he appears in a number of them afterwards, including the Gamecube title "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door".
4. Bowser
Answer: Corona Mountain
Interestingly, though Bowser is somewhat to blame when all is said and done and he is part of the final boss battle at the top of Corona Mountain, Mario doesn't actually encounter him until that point-- every dealing up until then is a conflict with Bowser Jr. Nonetheless, the inevitable will occur and when Mario ascends to the final boss battle he'll need to fight Bowser from the edge of a massive hot tub. Far from relaxing, eh?
5. Eely-Mouth
Answer: Noki Bay
It'll take four courses of Noki Bay before locals determine how to rid their north coast waters of pollution and it'll all boil down to the source of their problem being located on the ocean floor. With this, Mario will be given a less-than-perfect scuba suit and told to dive into the depths to face Eely-Mouth, a large creature with a tooth problem. If you can clean all the bacteria off this foe's teeth, you'll help him out, you'll clean up Noki Bay, and you'll get a Shine Sprite for the efforts.
6. The Sunflowers
Answer: Pinna Park
Found on the beach just outside of Pinna Park's main gate, the Sunflowers will be in duress in the fourth episode of the course, deprived of their nutrients because of the presence of several obstructive Snooza Koopas. Mario will need to send jets of water their way to wake them up, then let them leap into the air to pound down on him. If Mario can dodge the foes, they'll bury themselves upside down in the sand, allowing Mario to ground pound them back and save the flowers.
Saving the flowers comes with added benefits too. If mario helps them out, he'll be able to unlock Yoshi in Delfino Plaza.
7. Petey Piranha
Answer: Bianco Hills
Featured twice in Bianco Hills (once for the second Shine Sprite and once again for the fifth), Petey Piranha starts out atop the windmill in the middle of the lake and, eventually, moves to an outcropping in the canyon next to the village. In both cases, Mario needs to fill the enemy up with water to knock him onto his back, then hop on top and ground pound the water out. Doing this three times in both boss battles will get the Shine Sprite.
8. The Sand Bird
Answer: Gelato Beach
After a few episodes in Gelato Beach where you're working to protect the Sand Bird's Egg in the Shine Tower, the Sand Bird will finally hatch in 'The Sand Bird is Born', allowing you to ascend into the heavens on the back of a really unsteady bird made of sand blocks.
Here, Mario will need to collect seven coins from the back of the bird and one from the top of a tower, all while avoiding falling off and dropping into the great blue yonder.
9. Blooper Racers
Answer: Ricco Harbor
Ricco Harbor may seem like a place of industry, but it's also the only place where you'll be able to engage with the high-speed world of Blooper Surfing, doing so not only on the waves around the shipping yard, but in a racecourse beneath the coastal village. All you need to do is hop aboard one of three coloured Bloopers and navigate around the waters without hitting obstacles. Two Shine Sprites in Ricco Harbor pertain to these critters.
10. The Red Bird
Answer: Delfino Plaza
According to locals, there is only one single Red Bird on Isle Delfino, and even that bird might be somewhere a bit different. To find it, Mario needs to locate the secret 'Red Coin Field' accessible from Delfino Plaza. Firing water at the bird gets Mario one of the eight red coins he needs to get a Shine Sprite for this area.
There's also a Gold Bird, but it's part of a secret Shine Sprite episode in Noki Bay.
