His mother, Igraine, had an affair (generally unwillingly) with him while married to Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall.

The Green Knight had the opportunity to behead Gawain, but spared him.

3. We all know Guenevere betrayed Arthur with Lancelot, but this only occurs in the French tradition. Who takes the place of Lancelot in the English tradition?

Arthur is often a fairly ordinary knight on the battlefield, quite regularly being unhorsed by the likes of Gawain, Gareth, and of course Lancelot.
However due to Lancelot's adultery with the Queen, he was not the one to see the holy grail, rather it was his son, Galahad.
