1. Which character does Will Chase portray?

From Quiz
Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway!

Answer: Roger

He was in this cast as Roger, and in 1998 he also was the understudy for Roger on "Broadway". Roger is one of the main characters. He lives in an apartment with Mark, and at the beginning of the show he is six months sober. He still isn't quite over the suicide of his ex-girlfriend, April, who left a note saying "We've got AIDS." before her death. Throughout the show, Roger copes with learning to live and love others. Other shows Will Chase has been in include "Miss Saigon", "The Full Monty", "Lennon", and "Aida".

Joanne (Tracie Thoms) sings the first solo and Collins (Jesse L. Martin) sings the second.

3. Which two main characters sing solos in the opening song "Seasons of Love"?

From Quiz Rent

Answer: Joanne and Collins

Joanne is played by Tracie Thoms, and Collins is played by Jesse L. Martin. This song doesn't really have anything to do with the plot, but it's a nice opening in my opinion. Interesting fact - two supporting cast members sing the solos in the Broadway show.

4. Who directed the movie version of "Rent"?

From Quiz "Rent": The Movie

Chris Columbus is well known for directing "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Home Alone". Other directors, Spike Lee, Baz Luhrmann, and Rob Marshall, were all at one time rumoured to be making this movie, but it never worked out.

5. Which song opens the film?

From Quiz "Rent": The Movie

Answer: Seasons of Love

"Seasons of Love" was the opening song to the second act of the stage musical, but the film opens with the cast standing on a stage singing "Seasons of Love". "Seasons of Love" is also one of only two songs in the film to feature lines by all eight of the main characters.

8. What song began the movie?

From Quiz "Rent": The Movie

Answer: Seasons of Love

10. During "Light My Candle", when Mimi asks Roger "What are you staring at?", what does he tell her?

From Quiz Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway!

Answer: He is staring at her hair in the moonlight.

"Light My Candle" is the song where Mimi meets Roger for the first time. Mimi asks Roger to light her candle, and he tells her about his ex-girlfriend, April, who committed suicide. Mimi leaves, but comes back because she dropped her stash of drugs. Roger tries to hide it from her, but she finds it and leaves.

A man of many trades, Angel had a woman in a limo drive up to him earlier, offering him money to get rid of the dog that was barking and driving the woman crazy (this happened offscreen). According to the song "Today 4 U", Angel played the drums underneath the window where the dog was until the dog fell out.

18. Maureen has a tattoo in the movie. What is it a tattoo of?

From Quiz Rent

Answer: La Vie Boheme

After Maureen's protest, which is broken up by the police, the group gathers at the Life Cafe. Benny is also there with his investors, which irritates everyone because he is the one who had the police there in the first place. Benny tries to defend his actions, saying he is trying to clean up the neighborhood. In reponse, the group, led by Mark, sing "La Vie Boheme".

29. Who isn't seen at the Life Support meeting?

From Quiz "Rent", The Movie!

Answer: Lisa

The Life Supoort meeting is visited by Steve, Gordon, Ali, Pam, Sue, Angel, Collins, Mark, and Roger (at the end). The names of all of the members (save the main characters who also went) are names of friends of Jonathan Larson, who had passed from AIDS. Lisa sometimes substitutes for Sue in the stage version.

30. What is Roger's late girlfriend's last name?

From Quiz "Rent": The Movie

Answer: Ericcson

This is listed at the top of her HIV detection report in one of the flashbacks during "One Song Glory", but never revealed in the Broadway show. There is no solid evidence that original stage writer Jonathan Larson intended her name to be Ericcson. It is presumed that this is decision made by either Director Chris Columbus or Screenwriter Stephen Chobosky.
