Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which two main characters sing solos in the opening song "Seasons of Love"?

Answer: Joanne and Collins

Joanne is played by Tracie Thoms, and Collins is played by Jesse L. Martin. This song doesn't really have anything to do with the plot, but it's a nice opening in my opinion. Interesting fact - two supporting cast members sing the solos in the Broadway show.
2. Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Jesse L Martin, and Taye Diggs play Mark, Roger, Angel, Collins, and Benny.

Answer: true

These five men comprised the male original Broadway cast, and they all reprise their roles for the movie. Mark is a filmmaker trying to find his film. Roger is a songwriter with AIDS wanting to write one song before he dies. Collins is a gay teacher, also with AIDS. Angel is a cross-dressing, flamboyant homosexual, also with AIDS. Benny is a former friend who has lost favor with the guys because he married a rich girl and has abandoned them.
3. What is the name of Benny's wife?

Answer: Alison

Alison has a wealthy father and Benny has apparently gone into business with him. Unfortunately, that means evicting his former roommates, Mark and Roger, and everyone else in their building to build a studio.
4. How much did Angel get for getting rid of the noisy Akita for a woman?

Answer: one thousand dollars

Collins meets Angel after Collins is beat up by some street thugs and Angel offers to clean him up. Collins brings Angel over to meet Mark and Roger on Christmas. A man of many trades, Angel had a woman in a limo drive up to him earlier, offering him money to get rid of the dog that was barking and driving the woman crazy (this happened offscreen). According to the song "Today 4 U", Angel played the drums underneath the window where the dog was until the dog fell out.
5. What dance do Mark and Joanne do while discussing Maureen?

Answer: tango

Mark, at Maureen's request, goes to the performance hall, where Maureen is to perform her protest about Benny driving everyone out, to help fix her equipment. While there Mark meets Joanne, the woman Maureen dumped him for. The two compare notes about Maureen and her flirty nature in "Tango: Maureen".
6. What song is performed at the Life Cafe?

Answer: La Vie Boheme

After Maureen's protest, which is broken up by the police, the group gathers at the Life Cafe. Benny is also there with his investors, which irritates everyone because he is the one who had the police there in the first place. Benny tries to defend his actions, saying he is trying to clean up the neighborhood. In reponse, the group, led by Mark, sing "La Vie Boheme".
7. Which song does not appear in the movie?

Answer: Halloween

The song "Halloween" was recorded in full and appears on the movie soundtrack. According to www.imdb.com, those scenes were filmed, but did not appear in the movie.
8. Where did Roger go after Angel's funeral?

Answer: Santa Fe

Mark, Roger, Collins, and Angel sang the song "Santa Fe" earlier in the movie, talking about how it would great to get out of New York City and go to Santa Fe and set up a restaurant. It was only a dream. But, after losing Angel, breaking up with Mimi, because of her current relationship with Benny, Roger has apparently had enough and decides to go to Santa Fe.

However, he comes back to New York in "What you Own", realizing that he has found the song he has been searching for throughout the movie.
9. Mimi appears to die at the end. Does she really die?

Answer: no

Mimi has been living on the streets where she is found by Joanne and Maureen, who bring her to Mark and Roger's loft. Roger sings "Your Eyes", the song he wrote about her, in the hope of bringing her back. Mimi appears to die, but she wakes up and tells everyone Angel told her to "turn around, girlfriend, and listen to that boy's song."
10. Whose is the last face we see before the credits?

Answer: Angel

As Mark, Roger, Collins, Mimi, Maureen, and Joanne sing "Finale B", we see Mark's film that he has been working on throughout the movie. The last scene of the movie is shots of the cast members, and the last person shown before fade to black is Angel. This made me cry every time I saw it, and I'm not ashamed to say that!
