"Light My Candle" is the song where Mimi meets Roger for the first time. Mimi asks Roger to light her candle, and he tells her about his ex-girlfriend, April, who committed suicide. Mimi leaves, but comes back because she dropped her stash of drugs. Roger tries to hide it from her, but she finds it and leaves.

At the end of "Out Tonight", Mimi is at Roger's apartment, and she wants him to take her out. He gets frustrated and begins to sing "Another Day", in which he tells her to come back some other day. Mimi tells him, in that song, that he can't count on another day, he has to live as if it is his last day.

In this short song, Joanne is on her cell phone with Steve, someone she works with, about a case they are working. She is also on the pay phone with Maureen, talking about her upcoming show. Her father calls in on the other line of her cell phone, and she talks to him about Maureen attending her mother's hearing.

At the beginning of the song, they are looking at coats from a street vendor. Later in the song, Collins finds the coat that was stolen from him (he can tell because it is missing a sleeve). The vendor originally tries to sell it for $25, but they haggle down to $16.

This line is sung by Maureen, and she is referring to the voice mail left by Alexi Darling, in which she offers Mark a job for Buzzline. She takes the credit because Alexi called after she sees the news footage that Mark shot at Maureen's protest.

During this song, the main characters are under a large white sheet, and they are having sex with their significant others. Angel emerges from the sheet and has a solo part, then the sheet is thrown over his head, and Collins says the line "It's over." Angel has died of AIDS, a disease that he and many other characters have in this production, including Roger, Mimi, and Collins.

This song directly follows Angel's funeral. There is a fight between Joanne and Maureen and Roger and Mimi. The characters basically sing about the problems in their relationship, and Mimi and Joanne voice that they wish they had a solid relationship like Angel and Collins did.

After the group sings the line "I can't believe this is goodbye," Maureen spreads her arms open and Joanne runs in for a hug, then the two kiss and walk off stage.

Roger sings this song to Mimi after she is found in the park, nearly frozen to death. After he sings this song, Mimi almost dies, but miraculously recovers.
