Amazing Race Canada 3 Trivia Questions

1. How many Road Block tasks did teams complete in Toronto during this season of the race?

From Quiz
Road Blocks of "The Amazing Race Canada 3"

Answer: Two

In the first leg of the race, the twelve competing teams flew to Toronto, Ontario to complete their tasks, and this meant that all racers would be completing a Road Block before heading out of the country. The first task, held at the TSN television studios, required that one chosen team member hop in front of the camera and properly recite a complicated sportscast with news host James Duthie. The second, sending teams to Ontario Place, required that the other team member complete a complicated obstacle course including a rolling log/balance test, a rope wall, and a three story drop into the water. There was no Detour as a result of these tasks.

2. Which team utilized an Express Pass during the race's first Detour (in Leg 2)?

From Quiz Detours of "The Amazing Race Canada 3"

Answer: Hamilton and Michaelia

Teams found the first Detour of the race in Santiago, the capital city of Chile. At the end of the leg, teams could either choose 'Motion', a dance involving Easter Island traditional garb, or 'Emotion', in which teams recited a poem by Gabriela Mistral from memory. Hamilton and Michaelia, worried about the revealing outfits from Rapa Nui, skipped the Detour entirely and went on to win the leg. Every other team, except Nic and Sabrina, would finish the 'Motion' task.

3. To which Albertan city did teams travel to complete their tasks in the eleventh leg of the race?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [6]

Answer: Edmonton

Leaving Spotted Lake in Osoyoos, British Columbia, teams were told to fly to Edmonton, the capital city of Alberta, six hundred miles away. Upon landing in Edmonton, teams were told to head to Churchill Square in front of Edmonton City Hall where they needed to interrupt a justice of the peace performing a wedding ceremony. This clue-giver would send them back to their taxis to head to their Detour task.

4. In Leg 9, teams remained in India, but flew to what major city?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [5]

Answer: Delhi

Leaving the Pit Stop in front of the Oberoi Grand Hotel in Kolkata, India, teams were informed that they would be flying to the capital city of India, Delhi, where they would be locating their next route marker. All five teams ended up traveling by taxi to the Ghazipur Fish Market for their first task and, there, they had to work together to transport twenty catfish (each) in baskets on their heads through the marketplace to a nearby vendor. This would result in their next clue.

5. In Leg 7, teams flew to what Saskatchewan city?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [4]

Answer: Saskatoon

Beginning Leg 7 on the Bridge of Nations in Sudbury, Ontario, teams were told to catch the next flight leaving Sudbury for Saskatoon, the largest city in Saskatchewan. Upon arriving in Saskatoon, teams completed a task before even leaving the runway. There, before advancing into the city proper, teams had to use Air Canada flights and flight times to properly calculate a route that would hit at least three continents while giving twenty-five hours of continuous flight time (taking into account time zone differences).

6. In Leg 3, teams departed from Chile and completed a leg of the race in what other South American country?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [2]

Answer: Argentina

Heading out from the top of Cerro San Cristobel in Santiago, Chile, teams were told to take a 1,500 kilometer plane ride from Chile to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. Upon touching down in the Paris of South America, teams needed to proceed to Plaza Canada in downtown Buenos Aires and locate the British Columbian totem pole to find their clue box. Following this, they had to advance to Vuelta de Rocha to find their next clue.

7. In which Canadian province did the race commence?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [1]

Answer: Quebec

Twelve teams began this third Canadian version of "The Amazing Race" atop the Dufferin Terrace in front of Quebec City's Chateau Frontenac, Old Quebec's most famous landmark. Here, they all received their first clues directing them to travel on foot through Old Quebec to Quai 22 at the Port of Quebec. There, they needed to use a combination found in their clue to unlock two of the hundreds of bicycles locked to the racks found there. When done, they could ride themselves to the ferry, cross the river to Levis, and receive tickets to their first destination inside the Chevrolet Sonic RS vehicles they would need to drive to the airport.

8. Teams completed a Blind Detour in Leg 11 (in Alberta), choosing between 'Paper' or what other option?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [6]

Answer: Plastic

Teams receiving their Detour clue were sent to the Edmonton Waste Management Centre where they found a Blind Detour, requiring teams to pick one of two Detour options without fully knowing what was involved. In 'Paper', teams had to head to the conveyor belts to sort paper items from non-paper items, weighing out a certain amount by the end. In 'Plastic', teams needed to work to properly salvage dead television sets, dismantling six to get their next clue. Brent and Sean chose 'Paper'; Simi and Ope, Gino and Jesse and Nick and Matt completed 'Plastic'.

9. In Leg 9 in India, how many turbans did each team member need to wrap for their Road Block?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [5]

Answer: Three

After their market task, the five teams proceeded by taxi to their Road Block task in Faily-Bartha Village. There, one member of each team was required to get a 'head start' by properly wrapping turbans for a wedding party. The catch was that each of the three men they would be dressing would need a different style of wrapping, each with different approaches. Matt, Ope, Dujean, Gino, and Sean completed this task to the satisfaction of their instructors. After this, they could head to the M-Block Market in Greater Kailash, also a part of Delhi.

10. Which team utilized an Express Pass in Saskatchewan in Leg 7?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [4]

Answer: Brent and Sean

Brent and Sean received an Express Pass from Hamilton and Michaelia in Leg 4 and were given until the end of Leg 7 to use it, making the flight time task the perfect opportunity to jump ahead. They used it to continue into the rest of the leg without needing to perform the tricky math. All other teams kept forging ahead, with some opting to work together to finish the task and catch up. Two teams-- Dujean and Leilani and Neil and Kristin-- opted to take a time penalty of two hours to be run through upon arrival at the Pit Stop.

11. How many teams took penalties to avoid completing the sandcastle Road Block in Leg 5?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [3]

Answer: None

Arriving at Plage de la Dune-du-Sud, teams located their Road Block task for this leg of the race. For this one, teams needed to decide who would be 'king of the castle'. The selected racer would need to recreate a sandcastle provided to them, but they would need to build it overtop of their partner who would be submerged in a wetsuit in the sand (up to their necks). This task proved particularly difficult for those not selected since it required staying in frigid water for a lengthy period of time. Gino, Cynthia, Neil, Ope, Matt, Dujean, Brent, and Sabrina completed this task.

12. In Leg 1, teams flew to what major Canadian city?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [1]

Answer: Toronto

Arriving in Toronto at night, teams needed to wait until morning to complete their first task at the St. Lawrence Market, where they needed to use their brains to unscramble two street names found within the building-- Market Street and Center Street-- and use that information to find the butchery at that intersection inside. This would send them to their taxis, and across town, to their next clue 9 Channel Nine Court.

13. In Leg 4, team members needed to find a flag at which Canadian landmark?

From Quiz Road Blocks of "The Amazing Race Canada 3"

Answer: Citadel Hill

In Leg 4, teams flew to Halifax and during the Road Block, one member of each team needed to ascend up a ladder within the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge crossing between Halifax and Dartmouth. At the top, they would need to use binoculars to scan the city for a red and yellow race flag where their next clue box could be found. This sent them to the top of Citadel Hill. Michaelia, Nic, Brian, Leilani, Nick, Sean, Jesse, Kristin, and Ope all ended up completing the task to continue on.

14. The second Face-Off of the race was held in Alberta in Leg 11. It involved what sport?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [6]

Answer: Curling

After completing the Detour teams traveled by taxi to the Ottewell Curling Club for the second of two Face-Offs in the race. Here, teams needed to go head to head playing curling with the advancing team being the closest to the button by the end of the round. The last team, Simi and Ope, had to turn over an hourglass and wait it out to continue. After this task, teams traveled to a Petro-Canada gas station in St. Albert where they had to spend 250,000 Petro-Points in a minute and a half (and only on food and drink) to get their next clue.

15. How many teams completed the 'Slam It' Detour task in India in Leg 9?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [5]

Answer: Three

Arriving in Greater Kailash, teams picked up their Detour clue, allowing them to choose between two tasks in the nearby area. In 'Slam It', teams had to make their way to Roshanara Garden Wrestling Club and work with local amateur wrestlers to learn seven different koshti wrestling moves that they would perform with each other. Once all seven were properly performed, in order, the teams could continue on. Nick and Matt, Gino and Jesse, and Dujean and Leilani wrestled with this task.

16. How many teams completed the kayak hockey Face-Off in Leg 5?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [3]

Answer: Five

After completing the Road Block, teams needed to drive to L'Etang-du-Nord to find the Monument aux Pêcheurs, the home of the race's very first Face-Off, which required that teams battle in head-to-head competitions to advance in the race. For this task, teams battled in games of kayak hockey, scoring two goals to get their next clue. Simi and Ope and Neil and Kristin did not complete the Face-Off, instead taking penalties for skipping the task. As such, Nic and Sabrina were allowed to continue without penalty since they had no one to compete against.

17. What sport did teams need to play 'blindly' in Leg 3?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [2]

Answer: Soccer

After the Road Block, teams ended up making their way to a soccer field at Fútbol Madero in the city where both members had to play a game of blind soccer; one team member needed to play blindfolded around an obstacle course, then shoot a ball on goal under a certain time limit to get their next clue. This proved especially difficult until certain teams found a clever strategy. Unfortunately, Nic, a former pro footballer, couldn't figure out the trick and, to keep their lead, he and Sabrina took a two hour penalty to advance in the leg. All teams then headed to El Obelisko in Plaza de la República for their next clue box.

18. During the first Road Block of Leg 1, team members had to recite a news story regarding what subject?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [1]

Answer: Sports

Arriving at the TSN Studios, teams found their first Road Block task, requiring that one member of each 'feel sporty'. Inside, the chosen team members needed to dress in formal wear and sit behind the news desk with James Duthie to properly recite the story presented to them on the teleprompter (complete with extremely difficult names). Once they followed the camera to the proper cues and recited their lines properly, they would be able to receive their next clue. Jesse, Susan, Simi, Dujean, Brian, Nic, Neil, Elias, Dana, Hamilton, Matt, and Brent got this one done.

19. How many teams were U-Turned in the Magdalen Islands in Leg 5?

From Quiz Detours of "The Amazing Race Canada 3"

Answer: Two

Following the Detour in Leg 5 on the Magdalen Islands, teams needed to make their way to L'Escalier de la Pointe aux Meules to find the first Double U-Turn of the race and there, two teams-- Brent and Sean and Nic and Sabrina-- were forced to complete both Detour tasks to continue on in the race. Brent and Sean were U-Turned by Gino and Jesse and, to ensure their safety, they ended up U-Turning the second team. By completing their second task, they were able to retain their Express Pass.

20. In Leg 11, team members completing the Road Block had to memorize the lines of a skit in an Alberta saloon. They took on what name?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [6]

Answer: Kelly

Heading out from the Face-Off, teams ended up traveling to Fort Edmonton Park for their Road Block task. There, one member of each team needed to memorize lines in a script as the role of a bar proprietor during a historical reenactment. Brent, Matt, Jesse, and Ope completed this task at Kelly's Saloon, eventually hitting all of their marks to the satisfaction of their fellow actors. Matt, Ope, and Brent were required to finish this task to even out Road Block tallies going into the final leg of the race.

21. Which team used the Double U-Turn in Leg 5?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [3]

Answer: Gino and Jesse

Heading out from the Face-Off, teams began their Detour task-- 'Ride It' or 'Pull It'. In 'Ride It', teams needed to find a stable, mount a horse, and complete an obstacle course in under eight minutes. In 'Pull It', teams had to work on a farm, rolling a bale of hay into a barn and milking a cow to fill two one litre jars. Following the Detour, teams visited L'Escalier de la Pointe aux Meules to confront the Double U-Turn. Gino and Jesse U-Turned Brent and Sean to try and force out their Express Pass; the boys subsequently U-Turned Nic and Sabrina. Both U-Turned teams headed back to complete 'Ride It', though the latter team arrived too late in the day to be able to participate and were, thus, given a penalty.

22. How many different teams could be at either Detour ('Dance' and 'Dine') in Leg 3 at any given time?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [2]

Answer: Six

Arriving at El Obelisko, teams needed to choose a Detour task quickly since only six teams could participate in either 'Dance' or 'Dine'. In 'Dance', teams needed to learn a difficult tango to the approval of their instructors to get their next clue while in 'Dine', teams needed to take and relay orders, in Spanish, in a restaurant, prepare the dishes, and deliver them properly completed to diners to get their next clue. Neil and Kristin, Gino and Jesse, Nick and Matt, Brian and Cynthia, Hamilton and Michaelia, and Dujean and Leilani completed 'Dance', while Nic and Sabrina, Simi and Ope, Dana and Amanda, and Brent and Sean completed 'Dine'.

23. Team members completing the second Road Block in Leg 1 partook in which activity?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [1]

Answer: An obstacle course

Leaving TSN Studios, teams were told to take a taxi to Atlantis at Ontario Place where the team member who didn't do the sportscast needed to prove their sportiness in a physical challenge. For this one, they had to complete a three-part obstacle course beginning with a 120ft. rope wall, continuing with a three storey drop into the waters of Lake Ontario, and ending with a 20ft. log-roll balance challenge. Gino, Sabrina, Ope, Sean, Michaelia, Cynthia, Leilani, Nick, Amanda, Kristin, Sharnjit, and Elias finished this task.

24. During Leg 6 in Sudbury, Ontario, where did teams complete their Detour tasks?

From Quiz Detours of "The Amazing Race Canada 3"

Answer: Laurentian University

In Leg 6, teams visited two vastly different locations on the Laurentian University campus for their Detour. In 'Synchronize' (completed by Brent and Sean), teams hopped into a pool to memorize and participate in a synchronized swimming routine while in 'Analyze' (completed by Brian and Cynthia, Neil and Kristin, Nick and Matt, Nic and Sabrina, Dujean and Leilani, and Simi and Ope), teams instead headed into the woods to plot and graph the results of crime scene findings. The catch? Only four teams could participate in either Detour task at any given time, so some had to wait. Gino and Jesse did not complete the Detour, having claimed the race's only Fast Forward clue.

25. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 11?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [6]

Answer: Simi and Ope

After their Road Block task, teams were told to proceed to their next Pit Stop, the Muttart Conservatory in Cloverdale, Edmonton. After maintaining a lead coming out of the Detour and Face-Off, Brent and Sean were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, winning their second leg of the race and, this time, taking a trip for two to Dubai courtesy of Air Canada. They also got two years of free gas from Petro-Canada. In the end, Simi and Ope arrived in last place, unable to forge ahead during this leg. They were the last eliminated team, leaving three all-male teams in the last leg.

26. Which team was last to arrive at the second India Pit Stop at the end of Leg 9?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [5]

Answer: Brent and Sean

In the end of Leg 9, teams completed their Detour task and proceeded to the next Pit Stop of the race, Humayun's Tomb in Delhi. Staying ahead of their competitors for the entire leg, the win went to Nick and Matt who, finally, won their first leg of the race and, with it, a trip for two to Amsterdam, Netherlands, courtesy of Air Canada. They also won themselves a year of free gas from Petro-Canada. The last team to arrive, trailing for the entire leg, was Brent and Sean. Fortunately, they survived in this final non-elimination leg, though they were saddled with a Speed Bump in the proceeding leg.

27. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 7 (in Saskatchewan)?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [4]

Answer: Neil and Kristin

Following the Detour, teams were told to make their way on foot through Wanuskewin Heritage Park to the Sunburn Tipi Rings and their seventh Pit Stop. Brent and Sean were the first to arrive, and on Brent's birthday (though not without Sean tumbling and vomiting his way to the mat). The brothers won their first leg of the race and, with it, a trip for two to Paris courtesy of Air Canada. They also won business class tickets for the next leg of the race and a year's supply of gas from Petro-Canada. In the end, Neil and Kristin lost out on their penalty; Simi and Ope beat them to the mat two minutes before their time ran out. As such, they were eliminated from the race in eighth place.

28. Which team was last to reach the Pit Stop at the end of the fifth leg (penalties aside)?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [3]

Answer: Nic and Sabrina

After the Detour and Double U-Turn, teams were told to head out to their next Pit Stop, Pointe Old-Harry at the far north end of the Magdalen Islands. Gino and Jesse were the first team to arrive and, with their win, they were rewarded a trip from Air Canada to any Canadian destination and a year's worth of free gas from Petro-Canada. At the end of the leg, both Simi and Ope and Neil and Kristin were given four-hour penalties for skipping past the Face-Off. Fortunately for otherwise last team Nic and Sabrina, they were told to keep on racing into their sixth leg of the race.

29. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 3?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [2]

Answer: Dana and Amanda

Following the Detour, teams were directed to cross the Puente de la Mujer to their third Pit Stop where one team would be eliminated from the race. Neil and Kristin won the prize for this leg of the race, a trip for two to Beijing, China from Air Canada and six months of free gas from Petro-Canada. While Nic and Sabrina took the two hour penalty, the two of them were saved from elimination, dropping from first due to a strong Detour showing, to eighth. In the end, Dana and Amanda were the last to arrive, by under a minute, and they became the third team eliminated from the race.

30. Which team was the first to be eliminated from "The Amazing Race Canada 3"?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race Canada 3" [1]

Answer: Max and Elias

In the end of this leg of the race, teams needed to race along the lakeshore (by taxi) to the Air Canada Center where the last team to make it to center court on the Raptors' home turf would be eliminated from the race. Gino and Jesse maintained their lead through the entire leg of the race and, as such, hit the Pit Stop in first place, winning themselves two tickets to Rio de Janeiro courtesy of Air Canada as well as a points package from Petro-Canada consisting of six months of free gas. In the end, Max and Elias, Toronto-natives, were unable to pull out of last place after the first Road Block and they were eliminated.
