Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 9, teams remained in India, but flew to what major city?

Answer: Delhi

Leaving the Pit Stop in front of the Oberoi Grand Hotel in Kolkata, India, teams were informed that they would be flying to the capital city of India, Delhi, where they would be locating their next route marker. All five teams ended up traveling by taxi to the Ghazipur Fish Market for their first task and, there, they had to work together to transport twenty catfish (each) in baskets on their heads through the marketplace to a nearby vendor.

This would result in their next clue.
2. In Leg 9 in India, how many turbans did each team member need to wrap for their Road Block?

Answer: Three

After their market task, the five teams proceeded by taxi to their Road Block task in Faily-Bartha Village. There, one member of each team was required to get a 'head start' by properly wrapping turbans for a wedding party. The catch was that each of the three men they would be dressing would need a different style of wrapping, each with different approaches. Matt, Ope, Dujean, Gino, and Sean completed this task to the satisfaction of their instructors.

After this, they could head to the M-Block Market in Greater Kailash, also a part of Delhi.
3. How many teams completed the 'Slam It' Detour task in India in Leg 9?

Answer: Three

Arriving in Greater Kailash, teams picked up their Detour clue, allowing them to choose between two tasks in the nearby area. In 'Slam It', teams had to make their way to Roshanara Garden Wrestling Club and work with local amateur wrestlers to learn seven different koshti wrestling moves that they would perform with each other. Once all seven were properly performed, in order, the teams could continue on. Nick and Matt, Gino and Jesse, and Dujean and Leilani wrestled with this task.
4. In Leg 9, teams not opting to complete the 'Slam It' Detour task in India instead had to work with which of these?

Answer: Spices

If teams didn't choose 'Slam It', they had to choose 'Spice It', which forced them to head to Khari Baoli, a Delhi spice market near Chandni Chowk. There, Simi and Ope and Brent and Sean needed to locate a specific spice dealer and, using a mortar and pestle, grind chilis which they could use to weigh out 100g. Once they measured out enough of the eye-watering chilis to satisfy their judge they could head to the Pit Stop.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the second India Pit Stop at the end of Leg 9?

Answer: Brent and Sean

In the end of Leg 9, teams completed their Detour task and proceeded to the next Pit Stop of the race, Humayun's Tomb in Delhi. Staying ahead of their competitors for the entire leg, the win went to Nick and Matt who, finally, won their first leg of the race and, with it, a trip for two to Amsterdam, Netherlands, courtesy of Air Canada.

They also won themselves a year of free gas from Petro-Canada. The last team to arrive, trailing for the entire leg, was Brent and Sean. Fortunately, they survived in this final non-elimination leg, though they were saddled with a Speed Bump in the proceeding leg.
6. To what British Columbian city did teams travel in Leg 10?

Answer: Penticton

Leaving India after two legs of the race, teams were told to fly eleven thousand kilometers back to Canada, making their way to the farmlands of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. To get there, teams flew from Delhi, India to Tokyo, Japan, and then to Vancouver, and then onward to Penticton. Upon landing, teams needed to take taxis to the D'Angelo Estate Winery where they had to solve a large puzzle to free their white Chevrolet Silverados from a maze of black trucks.
7. What sport did team members participate in during the Road Block in Leg 10 (in British Columbia)?

Answer: Wakeboarding

After receiving their vehicles, teams traveled to the Summerland Waterfront Resort to find their Road Block task for this leg of the race. Here, one member of each team needed to get wet on a two-part wakeboarding course. In the each part, the selected team members had to stay standing as they rode over two ramps in the waters of Lake Okanagan. Nick, Jesse, Sean, Simi, and Leilani completed this task, riding the course without falling (though, in some cases, this took dozens of attempts).
8. In Leg 10, teams not completing the 'Brains' Detour task instead completed what other task?

Answer: Brawns

After completing their Road Block, teams drove to Oliver, B.C. to find Covert Farms, and there Brent and Sean completed their Speed Bump task, requiring that they fill twelve bottles of local wine, cork them, and label them for sale. After this, they rejoined their competitors at the Detour, a choice between 'Brains' and 'Brawns'.

In 'Brains', teams searched the vineyards with coordinates for three wine bottles then returned to the farm for a slingshot game and some labour involving a forklift.

In 'Brawns', teams had to complete physical farm tasks including carrying bags of onions, flipping tractor tires, and crossing monkey bars.
9. Which team did not use the Double U-Turn OR get targeted by the Double U-Turn in British Columbia in Leg 10?

Answer: Brent and Sean

Immediately after the Detour, teams headed through a mud run at Covert Farms to the Double U-Turn where they had the opportunity to force another team to complete a second Detour task. Gino and Jesse used it on Nick and Matt while Nick and Matt used it on Dujean and Leilani (forcing them both to complete 'Brains').
Following the Detour, teams traveled to Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad to find one of a few tiny models of Jon Montgomery in the museum bearing the name of their Pit Stop: Nk'Mip.
10. Which team was eliminated in British Columbia at the end of Leg 10?

Answer: Dujean and Leilani

In the end of Leg 10, the final five teams traveled to the tenth Pit Stop of the race, a trail outside the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre. There, Gino and Jesse won their fourth leg of the race, this time taking round-trip two tickets to Tokyo, Japan courtesy of Air Canada and, like many earlier legs of the race, they also won free gas from Petro-Canada (two years' worth).

After struggling for hours to wakeboard, it was Dujean and Leilani who were eliminated in this leg of the race, arriving well after the other teams and taking a penalty at the 'Brawns' Detour task.
