Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 7, teams flew to what Saskatchewan city?

Answer: Saskatoon

Beginning Leg 7 on the Bridge of Nations in Sudbury, Ontario, teams were told to catch the next flight leaving Sudbury for Saskatoon, the largest city in Saskatchewan. Upon arriving in Saskatoon, teams completed a task before even leaving the runway.

There, before advancing into the city proper, teams had to use Air Canada flights and flight times to properly calculate a route that would hit at least three continents while giving twenty-five hours of continuous flight time (taking into account time zone differences).
2. Which team utilized an Express Pass in Saskatchewan in Leg 7?

Answer: Brent and Sean

Brent and Sean received an Express Pass from Hamilton and Michaelia in Leg 4 and were given until the end of Leg 7 to use it, making the flight time task the perfect opportunity to jump ahead. They used it to continue into the rest of the leg without needing to perform the tricky math. All other teams kept forging ahead, with some opting to work together to finish the task and catch up. Two teams-- Dujean and Leilani and Neil and Kristin-- opted to take a time penalty of two hours to be run through upon arrival at the Pit Stop.
3. Teams completing the Road Block task in Saskatchewan in Leg 7 used which of these?

Answer: Trampolines

'Who's ready to jump?' is what teams were asked heading into the Road Block in Leg 7. Leaving the airport, teams had to make their way to the Apex Trampoline Park in Northern Saskatoon (driving themselves in provided Chevrolet Cruze LTZs). There, one member of each team had to perform a three-part trampoline course. Brent, Dujean, Neil, Brian, Nick, Jesse, and Ope completed this task. Following the Road Block, teams received a bottle cap sending them to the Great Western Brewery.

There, they had to search through thousands of bottle caps for fifteen matching the one in their clue envelopes.
4. Both Detour tasks in Saskatchewan (in Leg 7) involved which of the following?

Answer: Native culture

After completing their task at the brewery, teams were told to drive to Wanuskewin Heritage Park for their Detour task. In this one, teas chose either 'Nimitook' or 'Mikwap'. In both tasks, teams needed to learn traditional aspects in the lives of the Northern Plains Indians, who have their home in the area.

In 'Nimitook', teams learned and completed a traditional hoop dance, properly performing five spirit shapes for their instructor. In 'Mikwap', teams had to construct a proper teepee to proper expectations. Brent and Sean, Dujean and Leilani, Neil and Kristin, Nick and Matt, and Simi and Ope completed 'Nimitook' while Gino and Jesse and Brian and Cynthia completed 'Mikwap'.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 7 (in Saskatchewan)?

Answer: Neil and Kristin

Following the Detour, teams were told to make their way on foot through Wanuskewin Heritage Park to the Sunburn Tipi Rings and their seventh Pit Stop. Brent and Sean were the first to arrive, and on Brent's birthday (though not without Sean tumbling and vomiting his way to the mat).

The brothers won their first leg of the race and, with it, a trip for two to Paris courtesy of Air Canada. They also won business class tickets for the next leg of the race and a year's supply of gas from Petro-Canada.

In the end, Neil and Kristin lost out on their penalty; Simi and Ope beat them to the mat two minutes before their time ran out. As such, they were eliminated from the race in eighth place.
6. In Leg 8, teams flew to which Indian city?

Answer: Kolkata

Heading out from the Canada Games Memorial Clock Tower in Kiwanis Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the six remaining teams were told to get to the nearest airport and fly themselves across the Pacific Ocean, nearly halfway around the globe (via Vancouver and Tokyo) to Kolkata, one of the largest cities in India. Brent and Sean, who won the previous leg of the race, got to bring a team with them to business class for the flight overseas.

In Kolkata, teams had to receive a blessing at the Mallick Ghat Flower Market and then string together a red and yellow garland of flowers to receive their next clue.
7. Which team member did not complete the idol-searching Road Block task in India in Leg 8?

Answer: Cynthia

After their garland task, teams needed to head out on foot to the Armenian Ferry Ghat and then take a ferry across the river to Bagbazar Ghat where they could find their Road Block task. Here, one member of each team needed to 'meet their idol' wherein they needed to take a look at a photo and identify a matching figure of the goddess Lakshmi in the Kumartuli Potters' Colony. Once they picked out the proper one (of dozens) they could receive their next clue and catch a taxi. Nick, Gino, Simi, Brent, Brian, and Leilani completed this Road Block task.
8. How many teams completed the 'Tuck' Detour task involving yoga techniques in India (in Leg 8)?

Answer: Two

After the Road Block, teams ended up taking a taxi to the next Route Marker at the Swami Vivekananda House and Statue in Kolkata. There, they found their Detour task, a choice between 'Tuck' and 'Roll'. In 'Tuck', teams needed to make their way to the Jorasanko Thakur Bari residence where they had to work with local yoga instructors to learn six different yoga poses only completable by pairs. Only Dujean and Leilani and Brent and Sean completed this twisted task and received their next clue.
9. In the 'Roll' Detour task in India in Leg 8, teams had to navigate tuk-tuks through the city streets.

Answer: False

The four teams choosing 'Roll' (Gino and Jesse, Nick and Matt, Simi and Ope, and Brian and Cynthia) headed to the University Institute Hall where they had to load rickshaws with items to be delivered to two different locations in Kolkata. Their first destination needed to receive empty soda bottles and the second needed to receive bundles of cloth.

When they made all their deliveries and returned the rickshaw, they would get their next clue.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in India in Leg 8?

Answer: Brian and Cynthia

In the end of Leg 8, teams completed their Detours and proceeded by taxi to their next Pit Stop, the National Library of India. Here, Dujean and Leilani forged their way to the front of the pack by succeeding at their Detour so quickly (and overtaking all other teams), and in doing so they won their second leg of the race.

The win resulted in a pair of first-class tickets to London, England from Air Canada and a year of free gasoline form Petro-Canada. The last team to hit the Pit Stop mat was Brian and Cynthia; they were eliminated in sixth place overall.
