Starting the tradition of all episode titles, the pilot is known as "The One Where It All Began" or "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate". The show started with Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe hanging out at Central Perk. Ross arrived to join them and all of a sudden, they were surprised to see a woman in a wedding gown enter the place. It turned out to be Rachel, Monica's high school friend and Ross' former crush. Rachel had left her fiance at the altar and run away from her own wedding. When her father cut her off, Monica offered to take her in as a roommate.

Bonnie was Ross' girlfriend. Rachel was so intimidated by her, that she convinced Bonnie to shave her hair clean off. Phoebe found out that her mother wasn't her birth-mother, but her birth-mother was a woman named Phoebe Abbott. They all decided to take a trip, so Phoebe could meet her birth-mother. Joey meant that when you take a trip, you had to play Strip-Poker. Phoebe decided to spin around and point to someone who then got to decide what they had to do and then everybody else had to do it (even though she thought that spinning around with their eyes closed was fun and that they could just do that instead). She pointed to Chandler, who then said they had to play Strip-Poker. Sadly, there weren't any cards so it ended up being Strip-Happy Days Game.

Though perhaps Monica's personality is very strong, the Judith triumphantly holding up the severed head of Holofernes would be a bit much. Poor Chandler and Joey would faint.

At the beginning of the series, Phoebe was shown to be a musician, though she also held a variety of other jobs, as her music skills were somewhat suspect. She was often shown performing at Central Perk. Her best known original song was "Smelly Cat" about an unloved cat. For a brief period, Phoebe was replaced by a "real" singer at Central Perk and she commented on how this one maybe actually getting paid. This cameo was played by Chrissie Hynde of "The Pretenders".

In this season six episode, Rachel was in charge of making the dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, and Monica wasn't making a "back-up" dessert. Poor Rachel mixed up two recipes, and made half an English trifle and half a shepherd's pie. Some of the ingredients included custard, jam, whipped cream, ground beef, peas and onions. The others pretended to like it at first, but eventually told her the truth. Joey, however, actually did like it. The episode's real title comes from the part of the plot where Monica made Ross come clean to their parents about the fact that he smoked pot while in college. Back in the day, he had told them it was Chandler who smoked pot, but since Monica and Chandler were now living together as a couple, they needed to know the truth so that they would no longer dislike him.

They called Ross to have him bring them some more gas. And when they left, Ross had run out of gas and was stuck.

A little later in the episode, Rachel mentioned a woman she worked with who went out with a "Ken Adams" and Joey said it was him.

Jules Chéret also did some of the most popular images of the Folies Bergères.
