Ruth Connell played Rowena, the witch who escaped with the Book of the Damned at the end of season 10. Crowley's mother, she spent the season searching for power, attempting to recruit members to a "mega coven" in "The Bad Seed," then attempting to ally herself with Lucifer in "O Brother Where Art Thou" and "The Devil in the Details." Lucifer, referring to her as a "groupie," responded by killing her - but she came back, due to her witchcraft. In the last episodes of the season, she assisted the Winchesters in their fight to stop the Darkness - playing up to God, of course.

Once Dean found it, the artifact turned out to be a piece of the Ark of the Covenant.

Each of the other songs was in an episode of season 10: "The Boys are Back in Town" was in "Book of the Damned," "The Weight" was in "Hibbing 911," and "Heartbreaker" was in "Black."

But, while the Devil succeeded in getting Sam to speak with him, then dragged him into a cage with him (thanks to a double-cross by Rowena) and took Sam on a freaky version of "This is Your Life," Sam did not let Lucifer in. Unfortunately, Castiel did let him in. While the actor only appeared in two episodes, his ability to play project menace and instill fear in the other character and viewers was profound.

The Mark was removed and she was released, first appearing before Dean in "Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire." She proceeded to wreak havoc in her efforts to get revenge on her brother, God. The brothers then spent much of season 11 trying to correct their error in setting her free.

The episode had a lot of classic rock. Later, as Metatron read God's draft, "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones played in the background.

Lucifer had fooled the brothers for several episodes. However, he was so amused by Sam offering the power of his soul to Cas to help him save Dean, that he laughed and told Sam he did not need him. A horrified Sam realized it was Lucifer, using Cas' vessel. Lucifer then proceeded to touch Sam's soul, intending to kill him. Cas, though, was briefly able to take control in order to save his friend.

They eventually discovered that a demon was collecting souls, and using one of the old wrestlers to kill people. The story of the old wrestler, who had been a hero of the brothers and then sold his soul for one more chance at glory, was poignant.

It turned out that the monsters were vampires, and the main vampire was targeting Alex and her family, seeking revenge on Alex for her role in the vampires turning him.
