"Run through the Jungle" played while the viewer was reminded how the brothers wound up in the car, facing a freed " Darkness". The song was a perfect accompaniment to a reminder of all they went through during season 10, and the path that led to Sam saving his brother from the Mark of Cain.

The song was also used during "Sin City" in season 3, when the brothers first arrived in the town.

Answer: Dean disappeared from the car and Sam was knocked out in the car

When the storm rolled over the car, Dean disappeared from the car. He was then in a field with a woman, who appeared to be "the Darkness". She thanked him for freeing her. Sam was knocked out in the car. When he came to, he tracked down his brother, who was passed out in a field a half mile away from the car.

Answer: bound

"The Darkness" said, "We're bound, Dean. We'll always be bound. You helped me. I helped you. No matter where I am, who I am, we will always help each other." She also showed Dean the Mark of Cain on her shoulder. Later, when Jenna was changing baby Amara, she saw the same mark on the baby's shoulder.

Answer: Sam

Sam was attacked by one of the infected people in a closet in the hospital. She bled on him, infecting him. The scene had a lot of parallels to "Croatoan" in season 2, when Sam was attacked by an infected woman in the storage room in the medical center, who bled in him. In that case, he was immune to the demonic virus. In season 11, though, he was not immune to the virus.

Answer: Feed me

Jenna and her grandmother were visibly shaken at this small evidence of the baby's power. Jenna's grandmother was convinced the child was possessed and called an her priest. Jenna called Dean.

Answer: Crowley

Crowley showed up in response to her call. The King of Hell was attracted to the baby's power, and fascinated by her hunger for souls.

Answer: What lives, dies, and there will be no more coming back from the dead

After luring him with a beautiful, haunting rendition of the song, "O Death," the reaper told Sam she was delivering a message. She told him, "It's over. . . You and Dean, dying, and coming back again and again. The old Death thought it was funny. But now, there's one hard, fast rule in this universe: what lives, dies. So the next time you or your brother bite it? Well, you're not going to heaven or hell. One of us, and lord I hope it's me, we're gonna make a mistake and toss you out into the Empty. And nothing comes back from that."

Answer: Fire from holy oil

Billie told Sam he was "unclean in the biblical sense." Sam researched biblical purification, and found references to "purification by fire" and "holy oil." Using the holy oil Dean had packed, he burned the virus' marks off his skin, and removed the virus. He then lured others to him and cured them, too. (He lured them by blasting "Sugar Shack" over the intercom.)

Answer: Soul food

Amara spent the episode consuming souls of "dead meat suits" supplied by Crowley. She grew very quickly, starting the episode as a little girl, and finishing the episode as a teenager. When Crowley attempted to limit her "soul food," she did not respond gracefully.

Answer: "Guitar Man" by Bread

The song was great background music as the brothers washed Baby and discussed the current situation. It was also fun to see the disgust on Dean's face when it started pouring rain as soon as they got on the road after washing the car. (That always happens to me too!)

Answer: Nachzehrer

The brothers were confused when the victim had the heart missing AND it was drained of blood. Sam asked if it was a werewolf vampire hybrid. Dean responded, "Say it with me - a werepire!" Castiel then did the research and thought it was a whisper, a kind of demon. But, the angel then realized whispers only attack during the solar eclipse, so that was not right. He eventually figured out it was a Nachzehrer, a ghoul and vampire-like creature. Dean immediately nicknamed it a ghoulpire. Cas told the brothers how to stop the Nachzehrer. They needed to put a copper coin in the mouth, and then cut off the head. Before Dean killed him, the pack leader told Dean that he was creating an army of creatures to "fight the Darkness."


Dean's two fights with the creatures in and around the Impala were both entertaining. Baby always gets a front row seat!

Answer: John

A young John Winchester appeared in the dream, driving the car, while Sam rode shotgun. John repeated several things he had said in the past, including, "I never wanted this for you boys, this life, not really." Sam's father had said the same thing during "Dead Man's Blood" in season 1.

He then delivered his message: "The Darkness is coming. Only you boys can stop it." When Sam asked how, he replied, "God helps those who help themselves." When he woke up, he discussed it with Dean. Dean was skeptical, pointing out that God never said "God helps those who help themselves" and it was not in the "Bible".

He reminded Sam that it was an old proverb that dates back to Aesop."

Answer: "Night Moves" by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band

On the way to their case in Oregon in "Baby," Dean talked Sam into stopping at a roadhouse. Dean left at closing, acknowledging that "mistakes were made." And, he found Sam in the back seat with the waitress with whom Sam had hooked up. Both brothers had fun that night, and both enjoyed themselves on the drive the next morning.

In a classic exchange, Sam told Dean he had tried to give the waitress his number. Dean guessed she responded, "We got tonight, who needs tomorrow?" Sam asked, "Is everything a Bob Seger song to you?" Dean, of course, said "yes" to that.

The song played again at the end of the episode, as the bruised and battered threesome of Sam, Dean, and Baby left the scene of their case after killing the monster and saving the innocents.

Answer: A soulless babysitter

The brothers first investigated the inn for a ghost, but quickly discovered that the paranormal activity was all tourist trap hoaxes. They then searched for motives among the humans. After meeting Len and realizing that Amara had sucked out his soul, they shifted gears and began searching for a soulless killer.

They thought the killer was a victim's wife, but discovered it was instead the babysitter. She killed her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, her ex-boss, and the bad parents of her charge.

Answer: Bye Dean. I'll see you soon.

"Thin Lizzie" made it clear that, while Sam and Dean were hunting Amara, she was also playing a game of cat and mouse with them. Her statement at the end of the episode made the viewer think that there was a good chance the brothers would chase her --- until she caught them.
