"Supernatural" Season 11, Episodes 10 through 13 Quiz

Answer: "Changing Tracks" by Wishbone Ash

"Changing Tracks, with its lyric, "Can't get the devil off my mind," was the perfect song to accompany a recap of the first nine episodes of season 11, which ended with Sam trapped in the cage with Lucifer. Each of the other songs was in an episode of season 10: "The Boys are Back in Town" was in "Book of the Damned," "The Weight" was in "Hibbing 911," and "Heartbreaker" was in "Black."

In "The Devil in the Details," Lucifer told Sam that he was the one sending Sam visions. Sam asked about Rowena, and Lucifer replied, "Did as she was told. Groupies - they're always so eager." Sam then told Lucifer that no matter what Lucifer did to him, he would not give in.

Answer: girlpower

Rowena believed that Lucifer would stop the Darkness and then would take her with him to rule on his throne in Heaven. Crowley tried to tell her she was wrong, but she did not listen. After all of Rowena's attempts to build the "Mega Coven" #girlpower was a fun line.

Answer: 666

After the attempted smiting, Dean tried to call his brother, Cas, and Crowley. Crowley was listed as "666" on his contacts list. The "666" also popped up when Crowley called back. In the midst of this very serious scene, it was also amusing to hear that Dean had changed Sam's outgoing voice mail message to say that he was "waxing" and the recording also picked up Sam asking what his brother was doing with his phone.

Answer: Snapping necks and cashing checks

Lucifer took Sam down memory lane, visiting several of Sam's memories - a teenaged date, his victory over Lucifer in season 5, and his time with Amelia at the beginning of season 8. He told Sam that Sam was not strong enough to win anymore. When Sam asked, "And you are?" Lucifer replied, "Hey, snapping necks and cashing checks, it's what I do."

Answer: Castiel

The Devil was unable to convince Sam to be his vessel, which would have released him from the cage. However, Castiel and Dean came to Sam's rescue, while Crowley forced Rowena to lock him up again. The Devil took the time, while beating up both Winchesters and Cas, to convince Cas that he, Lucifer, was the only one who could stop the Darkness, so Cas needed to let him in. Castiel did so. Once freed, the Devil killed Rowena, tortured Crowley, and spent several episodes pretending to be Castiel.

Answer: Banshee

Hunting the killer of a resident of a senior citizen facility, the brothers first thought they were hunting a ghost. But, after they salted and burned the corpse who they thought was the killer, the killer struck again. This time, another resident witnessed the killing, and the brothers realized they were hunting a banshee.

The creature's piercing scream caused its victim to crack his or her own skull, and then the creature fed on the brain.

Answer: She was searching for the killer of her fiancé.

Eileen was hunting the killer of her parents, not her fiancé. Her parents were killed by the banshee when she was a baby, and the hunter that had been tracking the banshee raised her, training her to be a hunter. Eileen also told Sam that her maternal grandfather had been a Man of Letters.

Answer: The Elvis

Dean was so thrilled to have the new junk food, and tried to share it with Sam. Sam refused to eat the burger. He told Dean, "Dude, I'm not going to survive hundreds of monster attacks to get flatlined by some double donut monstrosity."

Answer: Vampires

Claire Novak called the brothers to Sioux Falls, since she was convinced there were monsters in town, but Jody and Alex did not believe her. The brothers helped her, and it turned out the girl was right, and a vampire was there to take revenge on Alex. He had turned Alex's boyfriend into a vampire and was setting her up to lose everything.

Answer: Birth control

The dinner with Jody, Claire, Alex, Sam and Dean was one of the funniest scenes of the series. Jody started lecturing the girls on birth control, looking for backup from the guys. The guys tried to leave, but Jody ordered, "Sit! Stay!" Both brothers stayed put.

Then, Jody started talking to the girls about using condoms. The guys, in turn, couldn't have looked more uncomfortable. Sam was totally mute, and every time Jody asked them for backup, Dean responded with, "What?" The brothers clearly would have preferred to take on every monster they had ever encountered, including Lucifer and Amara, rather than be at that table.

Answer: Valentine's Day

As the episode began, the brothers investigated a killing that occurred on Valentine's Day. The "road so far" segment reminded viewers that Dean refers to the holiday as "unattached drifter Christmas" (from season 5's "My Bloody Valentine") and this was reinforced as viewers were treated to a hung over Dean the morning after Valentines Day, sporting a hickey, referring to himself as a " hopeless romantic," "doing my civic duty, helping all the single ladies." He followed up by telling Sam, "You know the best thing about February 14th? You don't have to be Mr. Right . . . Just Mr. Right Now." Another entertaining line of dialogue: When Dean heard that a woman's heart had been ripped out of her chest on Valentine's Day, he asked if the killer was "an ironic werewolf."

Answer: Qareen

The witch had used an Aramaic curse, known as "the kiss of death." The curse used a Qareen to kill the cheating husband, and then each person kissed from there. When there was no kiss going forward, the curse would work backward, killing each person back to the wife.

The qareen, a type of djinn, presented itself to its victim as the victim's deepest, darkest desire. For the babysitter Stacy, that was Dan. For Dan, that was Stacy. And for Dan's wife Melissa, it was Dan.

Answer: Amara

In order to save Melissa, Dean kissed her, prompting the Qareen to come after him. He told Sam that he expected Daisy Duke (a character from "The Dukes of Hazzard") to come after him, since that was his deepest, darkest desire since he was seven years old. Sam asked if he meant "Bach or Simpson." It seemed Dean had meant Catherine Bach, the actress from the 1980s television show, when Dean was a child.

However, he considered Sam's question and responded, "Guess I wouldn't say no to either." When the Qareen arrived, though, it took the form of Amara, the Darkness.

Answer: Dean won, but Sam went upstairs anyway

Since season 1, the brothers have played "Rock, Paper, Scissors" to settle disputes about who would get the crummy assignment. It has been a running joke that Dean has always lost (except for the alternate reality episode "My Heart Will Go On"), and gotten stuck climbing down vents to find bloody remains ("Jump the Shark"), searching for a werewolf while his brother stayed with the hot girl ("Heart"), sleeping in the crummy room without any bathroom ("Time after Time"), etc. Finally, in this episode, he won.

He was still celebrating his win as his brother, who ignored the result, went upstairs, leaving him in the basement.
