Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I am a very rare dog in Cuba. I was first bred in the 19th century, and continually bred through the 20th century. My hair is double coated and silky. What breed of dog am I?

Answer: Havanese

The Havanese's original name, while being bred in Cuba, was the Bichon Havanais. When Cuban refugees started to come over to the US in the 1960's, they brought their dogs with them. A US breeder acquired some and began to breed them.
2. I was developed in Wales. I was used to herd cattle for farmers. I have large, erect ears and often have no tail. What breed of dog am I?

Answer: Pembroke Welsh corgi

There are actually two separate breeds of Welsh Corgi; the Pembroke and Cardigan. There have only been two separate breeds for about seventy years. If born with a tail, many Pembroke corgis have them docked by their owners so they have a tailless appearance. The Cardigan corgi is very similar, but always has a tail, and their feet are a different shape to the Pembroke corgi.
