Bob Hope was born in Eltham, England on 29th May 1903. His birth name was Leslie Townes Hope. In 1907 Bob Hope and his family immigrated to the USA and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. He met his wife Dolores Reade during a musical, "Roberta", and they married in 1934.

They had four children, Linda, Anthony, Nora and Kelly. In October 1997, Mr Hope became the first person to become an Honorary Veteran. This is the first time that this award has been bestowed in the history of the USA.
