Answer: Sir Anthony Hopkins

Hopkins has been dabbling with art for many years, and was known for doodling on film scripts. It was the talent shown in these doodles that convinced his wife to persuade him to use his gift and since her first urging he has produced some fine works.
The most striking thing about his work, for many art critics, is the intensity of the eyes, of which examples can be found in pieces such as "Ellipsis" and "Equinox", along with many others.
Hopkins' work can be expensive to purchase, with originals ranging from £3000 ($4000) to £60,000 ($80,000) although, as wife Stella has pointed out, these prices are not over inflated due to her husband's fame. £60,000 has been paid by serious art collectors who will hang a Hopkins next to a Chagall or a Picasso, who Sir Anthony played in the 1996 film, "Surviving Picasso".

Answer: Ronnie Wood

Wood is often derided as a painter who should stick to music, as it is often assumed that he is cashing in on his fame as guitarist for the Rolling Stones. In fact, art was always his first love and he won a national competition on BBC TV show "Sketch Club" (1958-1961) when he was a child and, on leaving school, studied art at Ealing art college.
He has had his works exhibited at Drury Lane Theatre in London and in 2020 had an exhibition at Ashridge House in Hertfordshire, where visitors were met by a tapestry of Ronnie's much loved "Beggar's Banquet" (1990) painting, the original of which sold for over $1 million.
Although he is known for his ability to capture the magic of many musicians, including his fellow Rolling Stones, Howlin' Wolf, Rod Stewart and Slash, he has also painted many animals, including his beloved horses, tigers, elephants and a mandrill, as well as mastering landscapes and abstract pieces.
Wood was called "an accomplished and respectable artist" by well known art critic Brian Sewell and cultured TV show, "The South Bank Show" devoted an entire episode to his art in 2004.
"Tattoo You" was the name of the Rolling Stones 1981 album.

Answer: Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu keeps her careers separate by using her Chinese name of Yu Ling for her artwork and exhibitions, the profits from which she donates to UNICEF. Although she has produced many works featuring New York City, she has attracted much interest for her range of paintings featuring lesbian lovers.
A former student at the New York Studio School, Liu's works regularly fetch fees between $10,000 and $50,000.
Master Viper is the character she voices in the franchise of "Kung Fu Panda" films from 2008 onward.

Answer: Marilyn Manson

Manson has been described as a living work of art and his canvases an extension of his personality. He is heavily influenced by Mark Ryden and Salvador Dali and his works have been favourably compared to those of German Expressionist painter Egon Schiele.
His 2002 exhibition attracted stars such as Dave Navarro, Nicolas Cage, Lisa Marie Presley and Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea, who paid $30,000 for "Elizabeth Short as Snow White - and now a special sort of death for one so fair", while the paintings bought by Jack Osbourne were "Grey Daisy" and "Harlequin Jack and the Absinthe Bunny".
Ever the non-conformist, Manson's 2004 exhibition in Paris and Berlin, Trismegistus, featured the painting of the same name, depicting a three headed Christ and used a 19th century embalming table as the canvas.
"The Beautiful People" (1996) was Manson's first big hit, reaching number 12 in UK, while "Disposable Teens" (2000) reached number 12 in UK and number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA.

Answer: Billy Dee Williams

Williams has had one heck of a life. His first love was always art and he turned to acting in order to get money to purchase his art supplies after winning a two-year scholarship for the National Academy of Fine Arts and Design in New York. In order to learn his new craft, he enrolled in the Harlem Actor's Workshop, where he studied under the great Sidney Poitier and was set on the road to success. He continued with his art work throughout his acting "sideline" and has had works exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Schomburg Museum, as well as receiving commissions from Nissan for the 1996 Olympics and Disney, for the Mighty Ducks arena in 1997 and the D23 exhibition in 2011.

Answer: Bob Dylan

Dylan's first exhibition, consisting of over 200 watercolours was held in Chemnitz, Germany and since then he has exhibited in major cities including Copenhagen, New York and London. He has exhibited street scenes, still life, nudes, landscapes and portraits using a variety of mediums, and has been likened by some art critics to Pablo Picasso.
He has also exhibited sculptures including, in 2013, a series of seven wrought iron gates he made.

Answer: James Franco

Franco and Rogan have a thriving bromance, having worked together on at least eight movies between 2008 and 2017, including "Sausage Party" (2016), "Pineapple Express" (2008) and "The Interview" (2014).
Without Rogan, James Franco has also turned in some truly memorable performances on screen including Harry Osborn in the "Spider Man" trilogy (2002-07), Prince Tristan in "Tristan And Isolde" (2006), Scott Smith in "Milk" (2008) and Aron Ralston in "127 Hours" (2010).
He has also found time to devote to his art, holding his first exhibition in 2010 at The Clocktower Gallery in New York City, entitled "The Dangerous Book Four Boys", although he had previously displayed individual pieces at the Glu Gallery in Los Angeles.
Although his work often attracts criticism, for example from Roberta Smith in "The New York Times", when she wrote, "Perhaps James Franco should just stick to acting. He remains embarrassingly clueless when it comes to art.", Franco continues to both delight and mystify art lovers and even used his own original artwork in the 2013 movie, "This Is The End", which co-starred Seth Rogan.

Answer: Joni Mitchell

After leaving high school, Mitchell studied under Canadian abstract expressionist painter Henry Bonli and attended the Alberta College of Art, but it was with music that she first found success, starting with her 1968 album, "Song To A Seagull", which also featured her cover art.
Although her talent with paints has long been displayed on the album covers of her releases as well as others, such as "So Far" (1974) from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, it wasn't until 2000 that she held her first retrospective exhibition.
This was held at the Mendel Art Gallery in her parents' home town of Saskatoon Saskatchewan and featured almost 90 of the 500 pieces she made available for display.
Very few people actually own art made by this talented woman, as she tends to paint for her own pleasure, once describing her talents as "I sing my sorrow and I paint my joy."

Answer: Tony Curtis

Curtis was influenced in his art by the likes of Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse, once remarking, "I don't paint shapes, I paint colors."
Other than portraits, Curtis was known for his detailed landscapes and especially his bright still life paintings, one of which, "Tropical Splendour" (1985) sold at auction for $10,000 in 2018.
He is of course best remembered for his wonderful film career, starring in movies such as "Houdini" (1953), "The Defiant Ones" (1958) and "Spartacus" (1960) as well as fathering actress and sex symbol, Jamie Lee Curtis.

Answer: Pierce Brosnan

Brosnan took up painting in 1987 as a way of expressing his pain when his wife was suffering with ovarian cancer, a disease that eventually took her life in 1991.
Although he studied commercial illustration at St. Martin's School of Art in London prior to taking up acting, his techniques used in his favoured landscapes and figurative paintings are self taught through trial and error.
He paints mainly in oils and acrylics and although he does not put many of his works up for general sale, he does routinely donate them to charity auctions, where they are highly prized and much in demand.
