Answer: "Byker Grove"

Ant, (Anthony McPartlin) and Dec (Declan Donnelly) were both born in 1975 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The pair met and became friends on the set of the popular "Byker Grove", which was first shown by the BBC in 1990. Ant and Dec appeared in the drama series until 1994, when they left to launch their music career.

Answer: "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble"

The duo's first few hits were recorded under their "Byker Grove" character names of PJ and Duncan. "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble" (yes, it is spelt like that!) reached a respectable number 9 in 1994. The boys scored themselves 12 hits up to 1997, but television and presenting was soon calling them back again, and, in 1998, "SM:TV Live" was launched on weekend television.

Born in Birmingham in 1977, Cat has also presented "CD:UK" and "Fame Academy". "SM:TV Live" (The "SM" stands for Saturday morning) was hugely popular with both young and old. Featuring sketches, guests from the worlds of television and pop music, games and live music, the programme stole the Saturday morning TV ratings.

"Chums" even featured a theme and opening credits not unlike "Friends". Guests on "SM:TV Live" also starred in "Chums", and it was sometimes amusing to see assorted pop stars and soap opera actors all trying not to laugh during the sketches! Ant and Dec stayed with "SM:TV Live" until 2001, with Cat Deeley staying on until 2002.

Answer: The England World Cup Football Team

Although they had not made any records since 1997, the pair were asked to sing the official World Cup theme. Co-written by Ant and Dec, "We're On The Ball" became their biggest hit to date. Despite the boys efforts however, England did not win, and their musicial career was once again put on hold.

Ant and Dec had come a long way since their days on "Byker Grove", and "Unzipped" was a chance for them to perform comedy sketches of a slightly more adult nature.

Answer: Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?

Ant and Dec appeared in the episode "No Hiding Place", which was originally shown as part of "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads" TV series in 1973. This one-off earned them some quite favourable reviews. Rodney Bewes, who played Bob in the original series, had a cameo role in the re-make.

A sort of celebrity "Survivor", this popular UK reality show takes 10 celebrities, puts them in the rainforest in Australia, and lets the viewers vote to keep in their favourite. The celebrities have to perform various tasks involving assorted creepie-crawlies to earn food for the group. Ant and Dec, living in a more comfortable hotel envioronment, presided over the proceedings and narrated the show.

The first series starred 8 celebrities and was won by DJ Tony Blackburn.

Answer: Nicki Chapman

Ant and Dec were seen as the kindly, sympathetic foil to the sometimes cruel comments of judges Nicki Chapman, Pete Waterman, Neil Fox, and the infamous Simon Cowell. The winner of "Pop Idol" got a recording contract, and Nicki?s management company would then represent them.

Ant and Dec also shared the award for "Most Popular Entertainment Presenter". In November 2003 Ant and Dec announced the possibility of taking their "Saturday Night Takeaway" to America, although the boys may have to tone down their Geordie accents for an American audience! A special audience of American tourists and residents of London were invited to watch a special live show performed by the boys, to see how well their unique brand of humour went down. So look out, America, Ant and Dec could well be dominating your TV screens one day!
