Ant, (Anthony McPartlin) and Dec (Declan Donnelly) were both born in 1975 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The pair met and became friends on the set of the popular "Byker Grove", which was first shown by the BBC in 1990. Ant and Dec appeared in the drama series until 1994, when they left to launch their music career.

The duo's first few hits were recorded under their "Byker Grove" character names of PJ and Duncan. "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble" (yes, it is spelt like that!) reached a respectable number 9 in 1994. The boys scored themselves 12 hits up to 1997, but television and presenting was soon calling them back again, and, in 1998, "SM:TV Live" was launched on weekend television.

Born in Birmingham in 1977, Cat has also presented "CD:UK" and "Fame Academy". "SM:TV Live" (The "SM" stands for Saturday morning) was hugely popular with both young and old. Featuring sketches, guests from the worlds of television and pop music, games and live music, the programme stole the Saturday morning TV ratings.

A special audience of American tourists and residents of London were invited to watch a special live show performed by the boys, to see how well their unique brand of humour went down.
