5. As seems requisite with every horror film director, John Carpenter made a Stephen King film in the early eighties. Which?

Answer: Christine

"Christine" was released in 1983. Carpenter has never been happy with the film, claiming it is "impossible to make a Plymouth Fury car scary!"
6. Who is credited with directing the original "The Thing" that Carpenter remade thirty years later?

Answer: Christian Nyby

The film was CREDITED as being directed by Christain Nyby, and only PRODUCED by Carpenter's hero, Howard Hawks. It is however thought that Hawks directed the majority of the film, as it bears many of his trademarks, Christian Nyby had up until that point been Hawks' editor! But it is believed that Hawks could not be seen to have directed a sci-fi monster movie.
7. John Carpenter often writes the scores to his films, but which of the following did he NOT score?

Answer: The Thing

Whilst sounding very much like his work, "The Thing" score was actually written by the legendary Ennio Morricone, who wrote the scores for Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns. The whole score was not used, however, with Carpenter instead chopping it up, and putting it into the film only where he thought appropriate.
8. John Carpenter has often used a number of character actors regularly in his films, but which of the following does not belong to this group?

Answer: Dick Miller

Dick Miller crops up in all of Joe Dante's films. George 'Buck' Flower has appearances in "The Fog", "Escape From New York", "Starman" and "They Live". Charles Cyphers is in "Assault on Precinct 13", "Halloween", "The Fog" and "Escape from New York". Peter Jason has appeared in "Prince of Darkness", "They Live", "In The Mouth of Madness", "Body Bags", "Village of The Damned", "Escape From L.A" and "Ghosts Of Mars".
9. The Duke of New York in "Escape From New York" is played by Stax records legend and Shaft composer Isaac Hayes.

Answer: True

Isaac Hayes has appeared in a number of films over the years such as "Truck Turner", "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!", "It Could Happen To You" and "Flipper". And his is, of course, the voice to "South Park's" Chef.
10. How many of John Carpenter's films did the late Donald Pleasance appear in?

Answer: 3

The legendary character actor, famous for playing Blofeld in "You Only Live Twice", and going blind in "The Great Escape" (not Carpenter films), first appeared in "Halloween" as Dr. Loomis. He subsequently played the President of the United States in "Escape From New York" and a priest in "Prince of Darkness".
