She is a Londoner, born and raised. Islington is in the north central portion of London, and dates back to well before William the Conqueror. It has had the modern name since the 1700s.

Lydia West plays Jill Baxter, an ally of the homosexual community during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. The show takes place between 1981 and 1991. West has been highly praised for her work in the series, as has the character of Jill.

Over the course of the mini-series, Jill evolves from being a party girl and gal pal for her gay mates, and becomes a care giver as they become ill.

Even though the series is about the AIDS crisis, West sees it as celebratory. "In the face of death, there's [still] so much fun, love, joy, sex, and all the great things that people enjoy in life," said West in an interview in "Elle" magazine.

Jill is based on Jill Nadler, a friend of Russell Davies. Nadler actually played Jill's mother in the mini-series. Jill has become such an icon for the gay community that #bemorejill actually became a popular hashtag in Britain.

Rachel is Lydia's big sister. While both studied dance, including jazz and ballet, Rachel became a professional; Lydia quit dancing due to injuries. Lydia also has a brother named Sebastian.

"Inside Man" (2022) stars Stanley Tucci as a death row convict, while West plays a journalist who is covering his story. The show also stars David Tennant and Dolly Wells. In a Peter Sellers-esque turn, Myers plays eight different characters in "The Pentaverate" (2022). The series is a spoof based on conspiracy theories, with Myers playing both conspiracy nuts and genuine conspirators. The Pentaverate is a group of five individuals started in 1347, which has been shaping world events over the last seven centuries. Their membership has changed over the years.
