Early in the political career of her father Ronald Reagan, Patti Reagan attempted to establish an independent career as an actress and model. She went so far as to adopt the use of her mother Nancy's maiden name, Davis, in an attempt to follow in her parents' acting footsteps. Politically the polar opposite of her conservative Republican parents, she lived openly with a rock musician; posed nude in "Playboy" magazine; and was a strong anti-nuclear and environmental activist.

After her father's retirement from politics Patti became much closer to her parents, acting as a great support to her mother during her father's decline and death in 2004 from Alzheimer's disease, until Nancy Reagan's death in 2016.

Answer: Charlie Sheen

The son of actor Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen gained fame and critical praise for his performances in such films as "Platoon," "Wall Street," and "Major League" and for his roles in TV shows "Spin City" and "Two and a Half Men". But after an increasingly-fraught lifestyle, which included legal troubles brought on by alcohol and drug abuse, destroying hotel rooms, and domestic violence, Sheen was suspended and later fired from "Two and a Half Men" in 2011.

This action led to a series of bizarre media appearances, resulting in a failed attempt to re-establish his career.

His hard partying also had health consequences. Sheen suffered a cocaine-induced stroke in 1998, and he announced in 2015 that he had been diagnosed as HIV positive sometime in 2011.

Answer: Nick Hogan

In the universe of Bad Kids, Nicholas Bollea, son of wrestler, TV and film star Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) may hold some kind of record for being over-indulged and just plain spoiled rotten. This mostly took the form of the gift of dozens of high-performance vehicles, in an attempt to establish Nick as a professional auto racer and team owner at age 17. Mostly he got a lot of citations for speeding and reckless driving, bad enough in themselves, but later he began drinking and driving.

In August, 2007, while he was allegedly engaged in street racing at high speeds in Clearwater, Florida. Nick crashed his car into a tree, seriously injuring his passenger, who suffered brain and eye damage, necessitating round-the-clock nursing care.

Answer: Kelly Osbourne

The daughter of rock musician Ozzy Osbourne and TV host Sharon Osbourne, who were one of the first couples to bring their family life to reality TV, Kelly Osbourne has appeared as a TV host, fashion commentator, "Dancing with the Stars" contestant, author, actress, and singer; some of it reasonably successfully.

In 2009, when she was 24, Osbourne was arrested for slapping a "Daily Mirror" columnist at a club the previous August. The writer had made fun of Kelly's boyfriend - later fiancé, from whom she separated in 2010.

Answer: Cameron Douglas

Cameron Douglas, the son of Oscar-winner Michael and grandson of Hollywood icon Kirk, had an extensive record of arrests for drug crimes, resulting in his prison sentence in 2010 for both possessing and dealing various drugs. He had his sentence extended after being found in possession of drugs in his prison cell in 2011, and in 2013 he was moved to solitary confinement when he failed a drug test.

He was also the target of violence from other prisoners. Cameron was released to a halfway house in 2016 and plans a tell-all book, a common career choice of celebrity offspring. Throughout Cameron's incarceration, Michael Douglas often spoke out in favor of his son, going so far as to blame his son's troubles on his bad parenting.

Answer: Christina Crawford

The adopted daughter of Oscar-winner Joan Crawford, Christina Crawford wrote "Mommie Dearest" in 1978, a near-gothic tale of child abuse suffered at the hands of her alcoholic mother. Christina believed she was adopted largely for publicity; suffered physical and psychological abuse; was denied food as punishment; was sent away to schools that all but held her prisoner; and was summarily disinherited - all as retribution for standing up to her mother about matters large and small throughout her childhood.

The book was highly controversial and was disputed by many, including Christina's siblings, although others verified certain details and incidents. The book was later made into a successful film.

Answer: Ryan O'Neal

In 1986 Ryan O'Neal's oldest son Griffin was behind the controls of a boat which was involved in an accident that killed the son of director Francis Ford Coppola. During a recovery from his drug addiction, he actually served as a drug counselor. Ryan O'Neal's daughter Tatum was married to tennis legend John McEnroe from 1986 to 1994.

In 1998 McEnroe had to go to court to obtain full custody of their three children when Tatum became addicted to heroin. Ryan O'Neal's youngest son Redmond was in jail when his actress mother, Farrah Fawcett, passed away in 2009.

He was given a special pass to see her before she died. He later spent more time in prison because of his heroin addiction.

Answer: John Carter Cash

The only son of country music legends Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, John Carter Cash is a successful songwriter, performer, producer and author who worked on music projects with both of his parents, Loretta Lynn, Brooks & Dunn, Elvis Costello, and many other successful artists.

He wrote children's books and books about both of his parents. In October, 2014, authorities at an airport near Toronto, Canada were forced to call out the Mounties when Cash was found wandering through the airport in his underwear in a disoriented state.

He was cooperative although inebriated. He was held by authorities for his own welfare until he recovered and went on his way without being criminally charged.

Answer: Nicole Richie

The adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie and his then-wife Brenda, Nicole Richie is in many ways the prototype of the Hollywood celebrity kid. Even her father has admitted she was too spoiled. She had an indifferent education, dropping out of college.

She made a huge success in 2003 with her best friend, the notorious Paris Hilton, when they starred together in "The Simple Life", a fish-out-of-water show that featured the two girls living on an Arkansas farm. She and Hilton ended their friendship.

Then followed a string of incidents: a bar brawl, traffic stops of increasing seriousness, and drug possession. Richie spent time in drug rehab and in impaired driver diversion and education programs. She has ultimately made a successful marriage, had two children, and embarked on a career as a fashion designer and several charitable projects.

Answer: Christian Brando

Christian Brando was the son of acting legend and double Oscar-winner Marlon Brando, who fathered as many as sixteen children by at least six, and as many as ten, women. That in itself may be sufficient to set the stage for the evening of May 16, 1990, when Christian had a confrontation with the boyfriend of his pregnant half-sister Cheyenne, which resulted in the death of the boyfriend from a gunshot.

At Christian's trial, Marlon Brando tried to take the blame for the incident due to his bad parenting. Christian pleaded guilty to manslaughter and spent five years in prison. Cheyenne, who was apparently deeply troubled, if not psychotic, committed suicide in 1995. Marlon Brando died in 2004; and in 2005, after a life that remained troubled, Christian Brando died of pneumonia.
