Like many aspiring actors Luke Perry took on various jobs to support himself while waiting for his breakthrough. These included working as a shoe salesman, a cook and laying paving as well as the time spent in a factory which made doorknobs. After some small roles, Perry made his big breakthrough when he landed the role of Dylan McKay in the popular teen series 'Beverly Hills, 90210'.

He remained on the show from 1990 until 1995, returning for a further two years between 1998 and 2000. Luke continued working regularly on both television and in films, but died at the age of only 52 in 2019 following a stroke.

He was still a boy when his father died and working in a coal mine in Pennsylvania was hard, cruel and poorly paid work. Bronson's life changed for the better when he enlisted to fight in WWII in 1943.
