John Lennon, from Liverpool, England, was a founding member of the Beatles, one of the most successful musical groups of all time. He was also a solo musician and a member of the Plastic Ono Band with his second wife, Yoko Ono. He was murdered in New York City by Mark David Chapman in 1980.
