1. This tall, elegant actress starred in "Mom", a sitcom about a mother and grown daughter with chemical dependency issues, had a supporting role in "Tammy" and voiced a part in "Finding Nemo". Who is she?

Answer: Allison Janney

Allison Janney is one of three actors in this quiz with childhood ties to Dayton, Ohio-although born in Boston, she grew up in Dayton-way up: she is 6 feet tall!. She has appeared in productions of stage, screen and television, earned multiple awards for her performances, and has proven herself a gifted dramatic and comedic performer.

She was awarded four individual Emmys for her portrayal of Press Secretary and later Chief of Staff C.J. Cregg on "The West Wing".
2. This Brat Pack alumnus, who has been deaf in one ear since childhood, starred in "Parks and Recreation" and had a supporting role in "Wayne's World".

Answer: Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe also spent much of his childhood in Dayton, Ohio, although he was born in Virginia and moved to California when high school age. His younger brother Chad is another well-known actor.

Lowe starred on "The West Wing" for its first four seasons. Around the time that he left the show, officially due to a salary issue, it was rumored that he was unhappy that the focus of the show had shifted to another character. Although his character of Sam Seaborn was to have been the star of the show, it didn't work out that way, although undeniably Lowe's part was a major one.
3. This doe-eyed, willowy blonde actress has been nominated for both Emmy and Screen Actors' Guild awards. She has guest-starred on such diverse series as "House", "30 Rock" and "Sports Night". Which actress below fits that description?

Answer: Janel Moloney

While Ms. Moloney's face is recognized by many, most of her work has been in supporting roles. She has starred in a few made-for-TV productions, among them "Armless" and "Stay Then Go". Her role on "The West Wing" as Donnatella Moss, a young woman who talked her way into a job with the Bartlet campaign, brought her greater recognition than any of her previous roles.
4. This actor had a major role in "Apocalypse Now", which brought him national attention; he had roles in "Wall Street", "Gandhi", "Catch Me if You Can", and "The American President". He has multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and wins. He was named at birth Ramon Antonio Gerard Estevez. What's his stage name?

Answer: Martin Sheen

Martin Sheen was born in Dayton, Ohio-the third actor in this quiz to have ties to that city. He has played political roles a number of times and is active in various liberal causes. In 1961 he married Janet Templeton. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2011. The couple has four children, all of whom are actors.

On "The West Wing", Sheen played President Josiah Bartlet, a role which originally was intended to be a second-tier recurring role rather than a central starring one. The show was supposed to be about the staffers working with the President rather than the President himself, but the show worked so well with the focus shifted onto the President that it took that direction instead. Sheen was nominated for Emmy Awards as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series 6 times for his performance as Josiah Bartlet, but never won, although he has won numerous other acting awards.
5. This actor has starred in the TV series "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip", "Trophy Wife", "Lauren" and "The Good Guys". He also had a supporting role in the film "Scent of a Woman" in 1992. Can you identify him?

Answer: Bradley Whitford

Bradley Whitford has a Master's Degree from Juilliard. He starred in the Broadway production of "A Few Good Men" and in the TV series "The Good Guys", and has had supporting roles in "The Client" as well as numerous other productions.

6. This actor played "Skip" Galweather in "House of Lies" and Jack Fickler in "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior". He often appears wearing a dapper goatee. Who is he?

Answer: Richard Schiff

Another familiar face who has had many supporting roles and guest appearances, Schiff originally studied directing in college. He has directed and acted in a number of stage productions in addition to TV and movie appearances.

On "The West Wing" he played the crusty and somewhat negative Communications Director Tobias Zachary Ziegler and won an Emmy as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role in 2000.
7. This actor, now deceased, was a self-acknowledged alcoholic who stopped drinking in 1989 and never returned to it. He played a wide variety of mostly supporting roles in film and television, including the character of Tommy Mullaney on L.A. Law. He was born John Speshock, Jr. He died of a heart attack shortly before his 59th birthday, while "The West Wing" was still in production. What name did he use professionally?

Answer: John Spencer

John Spencer had a long career with supporting roles in a number of TV and movie productions. He started his television career in the early 60s with a part in "The Patty Duke Show", playing the character of her acquaintance Henry.

In 2002 he was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on "The West Wing" where he played Leo McGarry, Chief of Staff. Interestingly, the McGarry character was also a rehabilitated alcoholic and drug addict.
8. This actor has starred as Burton "Gus" Guster on the TV series "Psych", and appeared in the film "She's All That". He is also a tap dancer! Can you name him?

Answer: Dulé Hill

Dulé Hill was born in 1975, making him the youngest of the celebrities in this quiz. He has had a busy and varied career. Hill was enrolled at the tender age of three in a dance school, which led to his being chosen as the understudy to Savion Glover in "The Tap Dance Kid" when he was just nine. He was in the original cast of "Bring in Da' Noise, Bring In Da' Funk" on Broadway; has appeared in commercials for Corn Pops, appeared in his first feature-length film during his senior year of high school, and performed in "CityKids", a kids' show produced by the Henson Company. In addition to co-starring in "Psych", he served as one of the show's producers.

Hill played Charlie Young, personal aide to the President, on "The West Wing". He was nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2002, but lost to another cast member from the same show.
9. This actress has a long history of stellar roles on stage and screen. Perhaps most well-known is her portrayal of Betty Rizzo in the movie "Grease". She also starred in both Broadway and film versions of "Six Degrees of Separation", and Broadway productions of "The Lion in Winter" and "Pal Joey", to name just a few of her many roles. She's been nominated for (and won) various prestigious acting awards numerous times. Who is she?

Answer: Stockard Channing

Stockard Channing was born Susan Antonia Williams Stockard. The first of her four husbands was Walter Channing, and she kept his last name along with her maiden name of Stockard as her professional name. A graduate of Radcliffe, Channing is known for accepting roles that are smart and a little wry or cynical. She played the teenaged Rizzo in "Grease" when she was 33.

Channing played Abigail ("Abbey") Bartlet, First Lady of the United States, on "The West Wing". She was nominated six times for the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Abbey Bartlet, and she won in 2002.
10. Can you name the celebrity who created "The West Wing", and who wrote most of the episodes of its first four seasons?

Answer: Aaron Sorkin

Aaron Sorkin has created and served as head writer for several television series-"Sports Night", "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "The Newsroom" in addition to his blockbuster, "The West Wing". He's also written for stage and film, doing the Broadway and film adaptation of "A Few Good Men", and the films "Social Media", "Charlie Wilson's War", "The American President" and "Moneyball".

He is known for fast-paced, intelligent dialogue. He has stated that he will no longer write for television, because the tight turnaround times demanded by weekly episodes prevent him from doing his best work. For "The West Wing" he won awards for Outstanding Drama Series (shared with others who worked on the show) four times, from 2000 to 2003 inclusive.
