Answer: Worry Hat

In Marten's youth, his mother used to give him the Worry Hat to help him calm down whenever he was upset or had nightmares. A few strips later, while happily singing and drying dishes, Hannelore hits her head on an open cabinet door and bleeds on the hat, which she feels very badly about.

2. When Faye gives herself a haircut, Pintsize glues the hair to his face and declares himself to be Robot Abraham Lincoln. What does he do next?

Answer: Emancipates the appliances

Personally, I think all of these would have been good punchlines to the comic. This isn't the only time that Pintsize uses hair clippings as a costume--later on he pretends to be a lion when Hanners cuts her hair for the first time.

"Our American Cousin" was the title of the play that Lincoln was attending with his wife at Ford's Theater when he was assassinated.

3. As a person suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Hannelore finds that she has difficulty eating pizza. What does she say about the toppings on any slice of pizza that she eats?

Answer: They must be an even number.

Marten suggests that Hanners might simply add a piece of pepperoni to "even it out", and Pintsize says that she also might remove a topping. Winslow proposes that Hanners could multiply any even-numbered slice by any odd-numbered slice and declares that "math is delicious!".

This comic inspired one of my favourite "QC" t-shirts, with a picture of Winslow on a box of cereal that says "math is delicious! - Now with more integers!". I try to wear this shirt at least once to all of my math classes!

4. Faye's proposed "Freedom Frapp�" included a special ingredient--the frozen tears of which protected species?

Answer: Bald eagle

The Bald Eagle was removed from the endangered species list in 2007 but continues to be protected in the United States under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

Komodo dragons, giant pandas and snow leopards are all threatened species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s Red List of Threatened Species.

5. Speaking of drinks served at Coffee of Doom, which of these items is NOT on the regular menu (displayed on the wall beside the blackboard)?

Answer: Tea

Coffee of Doom serves beverages both hot (coffee, latte, espresso, cappuccino, mocha) and cold (iced coffee, iced latte, iced tea, iced cappuccino, iced mocha, frappuccino ripoff). At the bottom of the hot drinks menu patrons are informed: "Want something but you don't see it on this menu? Tough."

Much later on we find out that Coffee of Doom also has a "secret menu" which is known only to regulars that Dora and Faye like. A "Number 28" on the secret menu is a mocha with chili and pop rocks.

6. When Agent Turing of the Robotics Defense Agency attempts to immobilize Pintsize with an EMP gun, Faye knocks him unconscious with a judo chop. When Turing later regains consciousness, what does Faye claim attacked him?

Answer: A Space Owl

"Intergalactic Peacock" is the title of the comic. Agent Turing has been sent to recover a prototype robot chassis that the RDA accidentally lost when the robotic transport that was supposed to be carrying it attempted to mate with an Best Buy truck.

7. On Steve's first date with Ellen, they go on a double date with Marten and Dora to a Chinese restaurant. As a marine biology major, Ellen is quite put off by Dora's choice of entree--the deluxe sushi platter. Ellen reveals that she is also taking a minor in which field?

Answer: Philosophy

Ellen tells the group that her final project for the current semester is to explain Derrida to moray eels ... but it turns out the eels aren't very interested in deconstructionism--they just want to eat fish (as does Dora).

8. Marten's ex-girlfriend from college stops by Coffee of Doom, and the girls are furious to hear how Vicky stopped returning Marten's calls before she finally dumped him. How does Faye exact revenge on Marten's ex?

Answer: Throws a gallon of milk in her face

Marten had followed Vicky to the eastern United States from California, where he grew up. After Vicky runs out of the coffee shop, Faye worries that her actions might have caused Marten to miss out on getting closure, but Marten says that he found the whole milk fiasco "pretty gratifying". Later, Marten asks Faye if she's going to track down all of his high school tormentors and likewise assault them with dairy products. Faye: "A wheel of cheddar to the skull, a slab of gouda to the groin. Truly, it is the deadliest of the food groups."

9. What, sarcastically according to Faye, "implied that the colonists were slightly miffed with King George"?

Answer: The Declaration of Independence

The Boston Tea Party and, subsequently, the American Revolution were certainly other implications of the colonists' "slightly miffed" state, but it the the Declaration of Independence that Faye specifically mentions when Dora makes a not-so-subtle suggestion that Faye could stand to lose some weight.

The Magna Carta was signed by King John in the year 1216. One might say that the English lords were "slightly miffed" at King John when they forced him to sign it, thereby limiting his powers as king and paving the way for the English Common Law.

10. When Marten is pondering whether an iPod is within his financial reach, Pintsize puts himself forward as an alternative. "No way," Marten says, because they had tried this once before and all that happened was that Pintsize followed him down the street, screaming the lyrics to which song over and over?

Answer: "Crazy Train" by Ozzie Osbourne

Pintsize's defence is that "'Crazy Train' is the best song ever". Taking Pintsize anywhere seems to be a recipe for disaster. In one comic Marten takes him to an Internet Caf� where AnthroPCs go to socialize with each other. Pintsize sets the cappuccino machine on fire while showing off his laser (this was before it was confiscated by the RDA) and the other AnthroPCs declare him as their king.
