Question 1 of 10
1. "Dear Funtrivia, I live in a galaxy far, far away. I was living quietly on a planet called Tatooine, until some Jedi took me to train with them. Now they're telling me I have to defeat these evil masterminds called the Sith and destroy the Galactic Empire. Please Funtrivia, send me a Sith Lord to defeat! It shouldn't be so difficult, it's not as if I'm looking for a father. May the Force be with you, Luke"

So, who is the Sith Lord you would assign as an opponent to young Luke?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. "Dear Funtrivia, I am Superman. Yes, the one and only. I am writing to you because I have come to a dead end. I am so fast and so strong that my foes have stopped being a challenge. Just so you can put things into perspective, I am faster than a speeding bullet. Who could possibly top that? So I am asking you, could you please find an evil genius for me to fight? Peace, Superman
P.S.: I have included a pack of autographs for my fans at Funtrivia."

What is the name of the evil mastermind that would make a quality nemesis for the Man of Steel?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. "Dear Funtrivia, I need your help. I used to think I was an elite soldier working for the Shinra company, but recently I found out that I was just an ordinary henchman, and my memories were foggy because I had been manipulated. Now I am fighting against Shinra, since they're evil and all, but I still want to find Seth, the man who made a mess of my memories. Can you help me out? Take care, Cloud Strife"

Is the villain's name really Seth, the way Cloud seems to remember it?

Question 4 of 10
4. "Dear Funtrivia, my name is Peter Parker. I was a normal high school student until recently, when I was bitten by a - you won't believe it - radioactive spider! Anyway, now I can climb walls and I am much stronger than before, so I'm thinking I should be a superhero. I even have a red and blue costume for the job, so you could please send me a villain who uses different colors? Thanks, Peter"

Who is the supervillain you would assign to Peter?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. "Dear Funtrivia, I am writing to you from the beautiful Shire in Middle-Earth. Not long ago, my uncle Bilbo left on a trip and gave me an old heirloom, a gold ring. Our family friend Gandalf seems wary of the ring and keeps muttering about some 'lord of the rings'. I've never heard of such a lord. Would you happen to know anything about him? Even his name? Bye for now, Frodo Baggins"

What is the name of this lord that Frodo is anxious to know about?
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. "Dear Funtrivia, my name is Zelda and I am writing this letter in place of my friend Link. Don't ask me why he doesn't write it himself, it's a thing he does, refusing to talk or communicate directly. Anyway, he needs your help. Link bears the Triforce of Courage, and I bear the Triforce of Wisdom. According to the oracles, there should be a villain who bears the Triforce of Power. Link is supposed to fight him and save Hyrule, so could you please find him and send him to us? Thank you in advance, Zelda
P.S.: When you find this villain, could you please tell him... not to kidnap me? Pretty please?"

So, which villain is a match for the seemingly shy Link?
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. "Dear Funtrivia, I'm Batman! (I realize now that sounds a lot more impressive when I say it out loud...) Here I am, lurking in the dark when the night falls on Gotham City, waiting to fight some supervillain, and all I find are petty robbers. Am I doing this for nothing? I mean, do you have any idea how much my equipment costs? Can't you just send me someone worthy to fight? The crazier he is, the better. I'm waiting for your answer, Batman"

It seems there already are several applicants to be Batman's foes. Which of the following does NOT fit the less-than-sane profile Batman asked for?
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. "Dear Funtrivia, my name is Harry Potter and I am eleven years old. I was living with my aunt and uncle until recently, when a giant named Hagrid came to us and told me I was a wizard. I didn't believe him at first, but he was saying the truth. Now I am attending Hogwarts, a school for wizards like me. Hagrid also said that a Dark wizard was the one who killed my parents and gave me my scar, but he refused to say the wizard's name. Apparently, everyone is still terrified of him and calls him You-Know-Who. But I-Don't-Know-Who. Can you help me? Yours faithfully, Harry Potter"

Surely, you know the wizard Harry is talking about. Which of the following is NOT one of the names/aliases he has had?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. "Hi there Funtrivia, this is Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Here is the thing: I recently moved to this town called Sunnydale and I hoped things would be quiet, but it turns out it's infested with vamps. There are also all sorts of prophecies flying around about this big bad super vampire, and how I'm supposed to face him. Can you find him and send him here already, because I would really like to settle this before I'm kicked out this high school too. Be safe, Buffy"

Who is the all-powerful vampire you would send against Buffy?
Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. "Dear Funtrivia, it's Peter Parker again. I know it's been some time since I wrote to you, but I need your help again. The first villain you sent me was a very powerful opponent, so I was wondering if you have any more from the deranged variety to send me. Thanks again, Peter"

Which of the following is the villain Spider-Man asked for?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
May the Force be with you, Luke" So, who is the Sith Lord you would assign as an opponent to young Luke?

Answer: Darth Vader

Luke Skywalker is the protagonist of the original "Star Wars" trilogy ("A New Hope", "The Empire Strikes Back", "Return of the Jedi"). The Jedi masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, his mentors are. Darth Vader is the main antagonist of the original trilogy, with the prequel trilogy ("The Phantom Menace", "Attack of the Clones", "Revenge of the Sith") showing his descent to the dark side. Luke and (especially) Vader are two of the most cult fictional characters ever, while Vader's revelation ("No, I am your father!") during their duel in "The Empire Strikes Back" is nothing short of legendary, leading to it being spoofed countless times.
Peace, Superman P.S.: I have included a pack of autographs for my fans at Funtrivia." What is the name of the evil mastermind that would make a quality nemesis for the Man of Steel?

Answer: Lex Luthor

Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and his first appearance was in "Action Comics #1" (1938). He is considered the archetypal superhero, who will always do what's right, even if it means saving the life of his enemies. Even among superheroes, Superman is a regular powerhouse, with his superhuman strength and speed, as well as flight and seeming invulnerability being only the most basic of his powers.

His nemesis Lex Luthor, on the other hand, is a human with no superpowers. Luthor is not without his own strengths however, and is often portrayed as a genius with technological affiliations, suffering from extreme megalomania.

He made his debut in "Action Comics #23", almost two years after Superman's first appearance.
Take care, Cloud Strife" Is the villain's name really Seth, the way Cloud seems to remember it?

Answer: No

Cloud Strife is the protagonist of "Final Fantasy VII" (1997). In the beginning of the game, he thinks he is a former member of SOLDIER First Class, the elite forces of the Shinra Company. Later it is revealed that he actually was a lowly member of the Shinra forces who didn't make it into SOLDIER, and that his false memories came from his own embarrassment and his manipulation by Sephiroth, the villain of "Final Fantasy VII". Sephiroth, unlike Cloud, used to be a renowned member of SOLDIER. While he was still unborn, he was infused with the cells of Jenova (an ancient life form) as part of an experiment by Shinra. Sephiroth found out about it, and in typical supervillain fashion, he decided to transform into a god and take over the world. He is one of the most famous video game characters of all time, and frequently appears in lists of the best video game villains.
Thanks, Peter" Who is the supervillain you would assign to Peter?

Answer: Green Goblin

Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, is a character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. His first appearance was in "Amazing Fantasy #15" (1962), but a year later Spidey got his own comic series, "The Amazing Spider-Man". Green Goblin first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #14" (1964), after several of Spider-Man's other enemies (e.g. Chameleon, Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Sandman) had already been introduced. Several fictional characters took up the role of Green Goblin, but the one most associated with it is Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin.

Although Spider-Man has several notable adversaries, Green Goblin is the one who managed the biggest blow to him in "The Amazing Spider-Man #121" (1973), when Peter Parker's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, is killed.
Bye for now, Frodo Baggins" What is the name of this lord that Frodo is anxious to know about?

Answer: Sauron

Frodo Baggins is one the main characters of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Unlike most protagonists, Frodo does not engage in many battle, nor is he an expert fighter. His duty throughout the series is to reach Mount Doom in Mordor and destroy the One Ring, the main source of Sauron's power. Sauron is the antagonist of the series, and though he doesn't have a physical manifestation at the timeline the "Lord of the Rings" books are set in, he is still the most powerful being in Middle-Earth.

He is also called on occasion the 'Dark Lord', even though that title originally went to his master, Morgoth, whose story is revealed in "The Silmarillion".
Thank you in advance, Zelda P.S.: When you find this villain, could you please tell him... not to kidnap me? Pretty please?" So, which villain is a match for the seemingly shy Link?

Answer: Ganon

Link is the protagonist of the "Legend of Zelda" video game series. He is often portrayed as a young boy who is destined to be a hero. Zelda is a supporting (and also the titular) character, and she is portrayed to be of age with Link. She is an unlucky princess who often ends up being up kidnapped by Ganon, although in the latest games she has a more active role. Ganon is the antagonist in most of the "Legend of Zelda" games.

His plans usually include uniting the three pieces of the Triforce and seizing control of Hyrule.
I'm waiting for your answer, Batman" It seems there already are several applicants to be Batman's foes. Which of the following does NOT fit the less-than-sane profile Batman asked for?

Answer: The Penguin

Batman, who was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, is one of the oldest superheroes, making his debut in "Detective Comics #27" (1939). Batman is a darker character than most superheroes, especially the idealistic Superman, and his opponents seem to be correspondingly darker.

The Joker ("Batman #1", 1940), the Riddler ("Detective Comics #140", 1948) and Two-Face ("Detective Comics #66", 1942) are usually portrayed to a lesser or greater extent as insane. The Penguin, on the other hand, is usually depicted as a sane underworld boss. Even though he is Batman's opponent, the Dark Knight sometimes tolerates his lesser criminal activities in exchange for information.
Yours faithfully, Harry Potter" Surely, you know the wizard Harry is talking about. Which of the following is NOT one of the names/aliases he has had?

Answer: Master of Death

"Harry Potter" is a series of seven books by J.K. Rowling. In the first book, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (or Sorcerer's Stone in the USA), the young hero finds out about his wizardly heritage and begins his clash with Lord Voldemort, the Dark wizard who killed his parents. Voldemort (birth name Tom Marvolo Riddle) has a small role until the second half of the series, and his origins remain unexplained until the penultimate book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Throughout the series, apart from extraordinary skill and intellect, Voldemort displays intense megalomania and a great fear of death, which dictated his actions for most of his life.

He is often referred to as 'You-Know-Who' or 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named'. 'Master of Death' is a title given to anyone who becomes the master of all three of the Deathly Hallows, which only Harry Potter managed to do.
Be safe, Buffy" Who is the all-powerful vampire you would send against Buffy?

Answer: The Master

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is a TV series that ran from 1997 to 2003. At the beginning of the show, Buffy (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) is a high school student who just moved with her mom to Sunnydale. As the fabled Slayer, Buffy has to fight against vampires and other demonic creatures.

The Master (played by Mark Metcalf) is the antagonist of the first season. He is an ancient vampire with hypnotic powers, who is prophesied to kill the Slayer and destroy humanity. Even though the Master is killed at the end of the first season, Metcalf reprised his role (mostly for flashback scenes) several times in the next seasons.
10. "Dear Funtrivia, it's Peter Parker again. I know it's been some time since I wrote to you, but I need your help again. The first villain you sent me was a very powerful opponent, so I was wondering if you have any more from the deranged variety to send me. Thanks again, Peter" Which of the following is the villain Spider-Man asked for?

Answer: Carnage

Carnage is a character who has his roots in Venom, another enemy of Spider-Man. Venom is an alien life form that requires a host in order to live. After trying to fuse with (and being rejected by) Spider-Man, Venom sought out other hosts and shared its hatred of Spider-Man with them.

While one of its hosts (Eddie Brock) was in prison, Venom returned to him and fused once again, but left behind its offspring. Brock's cellmate, Cletus Kasady, was a convicted serial killer with an unfathomable taste for cruelty.

The new parasite fused with Kasady, and so Carnage was created. He is one of the newest opponents of Spider-Man, as he made his first appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man #344" (1991) as Kasady, and in "The Amazing Spider-Man #360" (1992) as Carnage.
