All of the Robins more or less kept the rule: no guns, with slight exceptions from time to time. Jason only used guns as his preferred weapon when he was Red Hood. That is, only after he came back from the dead.

While Jason was simply killed and came back to life later on, Stephanie faked her own death with the help of Leslie Thompkins since Stephanie's identity had been compromised.

Joker was dressed as the Red Hood when he fell into the vat of chemicals that transformed him. Jason took up the mantle since he was killed by none other than the Joker. The Joker's origin was revealed in "The Killing Joke".

Damian was originally given an Arabic name translating to 'son of the bat'. Talia Al Ghul and Bruce Wayne were at one point engaged and she became pregnant. She decided to fake a miscarriage and then dissolved her and Bruce's relationship. Bruce later found out about the lies and sought out his son, eventually rescuing him and taking him in.

In the arc "A Lonely Place of Dying", Tim notices that Batman had recently become more violent and careless following the death of Jason Todd. Tim had already figured out Batman's identity by then and reasons that he needed to have a Robin to keep him controlled and accountable.

He originally seed out trying to make Dick take up the mantle once again, but ends up becoming the next Robin himself. Tim's detective skills are said to sometimes even rival Batman's.

Damian, being raised in the League of Assassins, believed that it was his right to kill his predecessor: Tim. When Dick became Batman, he chose Damian as his Robin, while Tim went on to become Red Robin. He wasn't exactly happy about leaving though. Later, Damian found a list containing people that Tim believed were a threat. Damian's name was on it.

These two have had nothing but rough times together.

Unlike the other Robins, Stephanie lived in her own home with her family. Although Tim's father was alive, he was in a coma for a long time, during which Tim lived at Wayne Manor, as well as after his father was killed.

Tim's parents sent him to boarding school, and were often away on business trips, leaving their son at home alone. This is one of the reasons why he was able to hide being Robin for so long. They were never around enough to notice his absences. However, after his mother was killed, Tim's Father tried to be there for Tim more and be a larger part of his life. That's how he was able to figure out that Tim was Robin.

After Jason came back from the dead, he realized that not only was there no tribute to him in the fall with all of the other fallen heroes at Titans Tower, but there was also a new Robin-- a replacement, as he so often called him. Jason was understandably upset so he traveled to Titans Tower to confront Tim. They fought and Jason left him bruised, bloodied, and unconscious.

Stephanie Brown was kidnapped by Black Mask while in her Spoiler costume. She was tortured to try and figure out what Batman, Nightwing, and Robin's identities were. She would not tell him anything. When Black Mask had to leave briefly, she managed to almost escape. He came back and she was shot. Leslie Thompkins faked her death since her identity had been compromised.
