Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) was raised in Pasadena. He is the only one of the original five main characters to be originally from California. Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) is originally from New Jersey. Sheldon Cooper is originally from Texas.

His childhood is told in the spin off series "Young Sheldon". Raj Koothrappoli (Kunal Nayyar) is originally from India. Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is from Nebraska. Bernadette and Amy (Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik) who joined the series in season are originally from California.
