However, Luke is popular with the other prisoners and even the prison guards. However, the warden dislikes Luke's popularity and sends him to the punishment box to prevent Luke from escaping to attend his mother's funeral. However, that only makes Luke more eager to escape than before.

"Alas, Babylon" is a 1959 classic novel about impending nuclear war. Randy Bragg's brother Mark is an Air Force pilot who warns Randy (through a telegram simply stating "Alas, Babylon" as a code) that disaster is coming . Mark brings his family down to Florida from Omaha for safety reasons. Nuclear war breaks out between the United States and the Soviet Union and soon the planet is nearly destroyed. Chaos erupts and Randy and Mark try to protect their families during the anarchy.

"Body Heat" is a 1981 romantic thriller film starring William Hurt as Ned Racine and Kathleen Turner as Matty Walker. Matty is married to a rich businessman name Edmund Walker but is having an affair with Ned. Matty cannot divorce Edmund because she signed a prenup and would receive no money so she and Ned concoct a plan to kill Edmund.

Although the plot is successful, Ned falls under suspicion and is arrest and realizes he was duped by Matty and vows to find out the truth about her.

"Miami Vice" was a popular crime show in the 1980s. It centered around Miami Vice Squad members Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricco Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) as they investigated crimes in the Miami area. The show was known in particular for its fashion among the male leads, Crockett in particular. Crockett usually wore an Italian jacket wide open with a T-shirt underneath and sunglasses.

He also drove stylish, Italian cars and was generally seen living way beyond what a Vice Squad member could afford in real life.
