Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which famous movie actress turned down the role of Scarlett O'Hara in 'Gone with the Wind'?

Answer: Bette Davis

Apparently, Bette thought that she was being cast opposite Errol Flynn, whom she despised.
2. What do Marilyn Monroe, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and Tallulah Bankhead all have in common?

Answer: Never nominated for an academy award

Interestingly, none of these celebrated actors or actresses even was nominated for an academy award! These days you can be Kim Basinger and win!
3. Which of the following odd items is not imprinted on the sidewalk near Mann's Chinese Theater?

Answer: The teeth of 'Jaws'

4. Which Hollywood starlet was featured in the X-rated film produced in 1970 called 'Myra Breckinridge' as a woman, transformed from a sex-change operation?

Answer: Raquel Welch

Surely this film wouldn't receive an X-rating in the modern day!
5. Michael Landon kicked off his Hollywood acting career by playing which of the following creatures?

Answer: Werewolf

Michael Landon played a werewolf in 'I was a Teenage Warewolf'. We can forgive him because it was early in his career. The real question is, can we forgive the already well established Michael J. Fox for 'Teen Wolf'?
6. In the original King Kong, a scene was cut (and never restored) because it was considered too graphic for movie audiences. When King Kong shakes and rolls a log that several men are trying to cross, a number of them fall off the log into a ravine. What we don't see is their eventual fate. They are attacked and consumed by what creatures?

Answer: Giant spiders

Nowadays they would not only include this scene, but probably also show the men digesting in the spiders' stomachs.
7. What 1940 film by Charlie Chaplin was banned and all film prints of it burned by Adolf Hitler?

Answer: The Great Dictator

The film, of course, was meant to make a mockery of Adolf Hitler and his dubious political career. The odd thing about this story is that Hitler eventually became curious and ordered a print imported to Germany for his personal viewing. It is said that he watched it several times!
8. Who was the only cast member of the movie 'MASH' to also be included in the television show?

Answer: Gary Burghoff

This isn't really 'odd' but I thought I'd throw an easy one in there and I had to have at least one 'MASH' question!
9. What movie lost the most money in the history of Hollywood?

Answer: Cutthroat Island

Cutthroat Island, released in 1995, lost an astounding 81 million at the box office. So go be a sport and rent the film to support those poor producers!
10. Who was the youngest winner of an academy award of any kind?

Answer: Shirley Temple

Shirley Temple won a special award for 'all her films' in 1934. I'm wondering why the same can't be said for Macauley Culkin? Okay, maybe I'm not really wondering that...
