Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What city did "SummerSlam" 1990 take place in, and in which arena?

Answer: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; The Wachovia Spectrum

The third annual "SummerSlam" took place in then what was simply called "The Spectrum" during a period of nearly 30 years (along with other name changes afterwards). However, Wachovia Bank holds the lease to the building (which accounts for the name change). A total crowd of 19,304 fans attended and witnessed the event.
2. A Tag Team Match had opened up the 1990 edition of "SummerSlam".

Answer: True

Indeed it did, and for the 1990 edition, Power and Glory, which consisted of Paul Roma and Hercules, along with Slick at ringside, defeated The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) after Roma pinned Jannetty after delivering a "Powerplex". In the match, Shawn Michaels had left Jannetty to fight for himself due to being "injured", after Hercules, with a chain, attacked Michaels during his entrance.
3. The streak of the then-WWE Intercontinental Champion losing his title at "SummerSlam" continued on, and in this one, Mr. Perfect, the then-champion, faced off against a "substitute". Who was it?

Answer: The Texas Tornado

The Texas Tornado (Kerry Von Erich) it was, and it was he who defeated Mr. Perfect to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship Match, along with the belt itself after pinning him in a little over five minutes after hitting Perfect with a "Tornado Punch". Bobby "The Brain" Heenan stood in Mr. Perfect's corner for the match.
4. For the WWE Intercontinental Championship Match, who was it that the challenger for Mr. Perfect's WWE Intercontinental Championship had replaced?

Answer: Brutus Beefcake

Brutus Beefcake, in the first place, was supposed to be the challenger for Mr. Perfect's WWE Intercontinental Championship title belt, but due to a para-sailing accident, Beefcake was forced out of the match, thus having another superstar take his #1 contender-ship spot.
5. In one of the matches at "SummerSlam" 1990, who was it that never showed up to the ring, thus having their opponent (the participant that actually did show up) win via a forfeit?

Answer: Sapphire

Sapphire, who was scheduled to face Sensational Queen Sherri in a Singles Match, never showed up to the ring because of her being "bought" by Ted "Million Dollar Man" DiBiase. Given her no-show, the referee had no other option but to award the match to Sherri.
6. In the WWE World Tag Team Championship Match, and in this bout, the challengers, The Hart Foundation, seeking to FINALLY capture the titles after losing their WWE World Tag Team Championship Matches in the past two "SummerSlam" events, squared off against Demolition, the then-champions in a 2/3 Falls Match. Which two men were NOT involved in any of the decisions within the match?

Answer: Smash and Jim Neidhart

The Hart Foundation (Jim Neidhart and Bret Hart), after two unsuccessful attempts in capturing the WWE World Tag Team Championships, had finally done the job at the 1990 "SummerSlam" after defeating Demolition (Smash and Crush) in a 2/3 Falls Match, 2 falls to 1. In the first fall, Crush pinned Bret after connecting with a "Demolition Decapitation"; the second fall saw Crush getting disqualified after intervening in the ref's decision in making a count; and the third and final fall in which would determine a winner saw Bret pinning Crush to win not only the match, but the WWE World Tag Team Championship belts as well.

In the match itself, despite being banned from ringside, Ax, another member of Demolition, decided to get involved in the match after showing up with the help of the other members of Demolition (they would hide him under the ring) in an attempt to win it by swapping places with Smash, not once, but twice. Still, even with their cheating tactics and the considerable "advantage", The Hart Foundation managed to score the victory to capture the title belts after the "tables turned" on the champions after The Legion of Doom came out and pulled Ax out of beneath the ring, giving Smash the urge to follow them, thus leaving Crush all alone. This, of course, marks the first time The Hart Foundation won the WWE World Tag Team Championship title belts at "SummerSlam", along with their first win at the event.
7. Who was the Special Guest Referee for the one-on-one bout between Bad News Brown and Jake "The Snake" Roberts?

Answer: Big Boss Man

This contest did not last too long once Bad News Brown decided to hit Jake "The Snake" Roberts with a steel chair, thus forcing Big Boss Man to make the disqualification call, giving the victory to Roberts in under five minutes.
8. At the 1990 "SummerSlam", the "Brother Love Show" was hosted live in which none other than Brother Love would interview a certain superstar. Who was it?

Answer: Sgt. Slaughter

Just having returned, Sgt. Slaughter became the guest for the "Brother Love Show", and in this edition, which was of course hosted at this "SummerSlam", Sgt. Slaughter presented to Brother Love the "Great American Award".
9. For the Singles Match between Hulk Hogan and Earthquake, how many managers were at ringside?

Answer: Three

This was the penultimate match for the event, and in this match, Hulk Hogan, with Big Boss Man at his side (originally supposed to be Tugboat), defeated Earthquake, with Jimmy Hart and Dino Bravo accompanying him via a count out after being body-slammed outside the ring, onto a table.
10. The Main Event Match of "SummerSlam" 1990 had arrived, and for the first time ever at "SummerSlam", the WWE Championship was on the line. Who walked away the winner in the Steel Cage Match, and what method did he use to win?

Answer: Ultimate Warrior; Escape
