Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the 1992 Royal Rumble, who competed in two different matches?

Answer: Rowdy Roddy Piper

In his first match of the night, Rowdy Roddy Piper defeated the Mountie to capture the WWF Intercontinental Championship, his first and only ever WWF Singles Championship Belt in his illustrious career. In his second match of the night he competed in the Royal Rumble Match itself and lasted over 34 minutes until being eliminated by Sid Justice.
2. Which two men assisted in eliminating Sid Justice?

Answer: Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair

Justice eliminated Hulk Hogan while his back was turned, and Hogan became enraged and somehow was able to reach up and grab Justice by the arm and start yanking him out over the top rope. As Flair was getting up off the canvas, he rushed over and assisted in dumping out Justice and winning the Royal Rumble Match and the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
3. Who was the first man eliminated in the Royal Rumble Match itself?

Answer: Ted Dibiase

Ted Dibiase was the second man in the ring and the first man eliminated. He was thrown out by British Bulldog at the 1:18 mark. This was a disappointment for Ted Dibiase because two years prior he set the Royal Rumble Match record by lasting over forty-five minutes.
4. Who eliminated themselves by according to Gorilla Monsoon "letting their heart take over their mind"? (He was allowed back into the ring though because he wasn't actually thrown over the top rope.)

Answer: Macho Man Randy Savage

The Macho Man, Randy Savage jumped over the top rope to go after Jake "The Snake" Roberts who recently had been feuding with Randy Savage. The Macho Man, Randy Savage finally got his revenge at Saturday Night's Main Event on February 8, 1992 by defeating Jake "the Snake" Roberts.

After the match, Jake "the Snake" Roberts planned to ambush Macho Man, Randy Savage, but was stopped by the Undertaker.
5. Which two men received preferential treatment in the Royal Rumble Match entry lottery because of a dispute over the vacant WWF Championship?

Answer: Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker

Undertaker defeated Hulk Hogan to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at the 1991 Survivor Series due to interference from Ric Flair. WWF President Jack Tunney declared that Hogan deserved a rematch and he got the rematch at "A Tuesday in Texas" Pay Per View. Jack Tunney sat ringside and was "accidentally" knocked out by a chair shot. Hogan won the match and regained the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Jack Tunney, however, declared the title to be vacant since he was knocked out for the duration of the match, thus giving us the 1992 Royal Rumble Match deciding the new WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
6. Who spent the most time in the ring during the Royal Rumble Match?

Answer: Ric Flair

Ric Flair spent more than fifty-nine minutes in the ring, outlasting twenty-nine other superstars to win the Royal Rumble Match and the WWF Championship. This set the record that lasted until Bob Backlund lasted over an hour the following year.
7. Who eliminated the most men in the Royal Rumble Match?

Answer: Sid Justice

Despite entering the Royal Rumble Match as entry number twenty-nine; Sid Justice was still able to eliminate six different men before being eliminated by Ric Flair (with help from Hulk Hogan). Ric Flair eliminated five men, Hulk Hogan eliminated three men and The Undertaker eliminated only one man. Sid Justice's victims were Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Rick Martel, Hulk Hogan, Sgt. Slaughter and The Warlord.
8. Which man drew number twenty-three in the Royal Rumble Match?

Answer: Virgil

Virgil drew #23, because we got this gem of an exchange from Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon....
Heenan: "Virgil is #23 right? So that's 23 bags he's been through in the back."
Monsoon: "Oh, will you stop?"

Hulk Hogan drew number twenty-six. Jake "the Snake" Roberts drew number sixteen. The Berzerker drew number twenty-two.
9. Which man spent the least amount of time in the Royal Rumble Match?

Answer: Hercules

Hercules was eliminated by the Big Boss Man after spending on fifty-six seconds in the ring. While fifty-six seconds doesn't seem like a lot of time, it isn't nearly as bad as some other superstars in the preceding and following years. Bushwhacker Luke lasted four seconds in 1991. Owen Hart lasted three seconds in 1995.

The Warlord lasted two seconds in 1989. Santino Marella in 2009 lasted only one second.
10. The New Foundation beat the Orient Express in the opening bout of the Pay Per View, who was part of the New Foundation?

Answer: Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart

Once Bret Hart turned to singles wrestling, they decided to have his younger brother Owen Hart team with Jim Neidhart to form the New Foundation. Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart were known as The Hart Foundation. Owen Hart and KoKo B. Ware were known as High Energy. Marty Jannetty and Leif Cassidy were known as the New Rockers.
