Answer: Moses

God called Moses from a burning bush and told him to tell Pharaoh, to let his people go. Pharaoh was the ruler of Egypt and had turned God's people into slaves. God had to send many plagues before Pharaoh let God's people go, and when he did, he changed his mind.

He went after God's people and trapped them at the Red Sea, but Moses obeyed God and held out his staff. The Red Sea parted for the Israelites as they crossed, then drowned the Egyptian army.

Answer: Samuel

Samuel's mother dedicated him to God by letting him be raised in the tabernacle. Eli was the high priest and taught Samuel how to obey God. When God called to Samuel, Samuel thought Eli was calling him. Eli told Samuel it was the Lord and to say "Here am I". Samuel later anointed the kings Saul and David.

Answer: Nathan

David had killed a man and married his wife. Nathan took a lamb to David and told him the story of a poor man. The poor man had only one lamb. The rich man killed his lamb to serve a feast to his friends. David was very angry until Nathan told him he was like the rich man. David repented and God forgave him.

Answer: Elijah

Elijah was a strong prophet during a time when there were not many serving God. He was fed by ravens when God shut up the heavens because of King Ahab and Jezebel. He also called down fire from heaven for a sacrifice that turned Israel back to God. In the end, God picked him up in a chariot of fire and carried him to heaven while his servant watched.

Answer: Elisha

Naaman was a soldier from Syria and traveled to see Elisha after a Hebrew servant girl told him he could be healed. When Naaman got to Elisha it was not what he expected. The prophet did not do an instant miracle. He told Naaman to go bathe in the Jordan seven times. Naaman almost gave up, but his servant told him to do as the prophet said. Naaman did and was healed.

Answer: Jonah

Jonah tried to run away when God told him to go to Ninevah. Ninevah was so wicked God wanted to destroy it but was giving them one last chance. Jonah went on a ship for another place instead but God caused a storm so bad the sailors threw Jonah overboard. Jonah was swallowed by a great fish and prayed for God to save him.

When the fish threw Jonah up, Jonah went and preached like God told him to.

Answer: Ezekiel

Ezekiel was a prophet when God's people had turned their back on serving Him. God told Ezekiel to prophesy to a valley of dry bones that they would live. When Ezekiel did, God put the bones together. Ezekiel continued to prophesy and God put skin and breathed life into them. God told Ezekiel his people would be restored just as the dry bones had been.

Answer: Isaiah

Isaiah saw God in a vision. He was high and lifted up with angels. Kings would often sew robes of other kings they conquered to their own robe. Isaiah saw that the robe of God filled the temple. God told Isaiah to go and preach to Israel and that he would give him the words to say. Isaiah was a prophet to many kings.

Answer: Jeremiah

Jeremiah went through many terrible things to preach the messages God had given him. One time, God's people even threw him in a well of mud. Jeremiah was still faithful to God though. He cried because God's people would have to face destruction for all the evil they had done. Eventually God's people would be sent far away from their homeland as captives to other nations.

Answer: John

John lived in the wilderness and ate locusts and honey. He preached of the coming of the Messiah and baptized many people. When John saw Jesus, he knew that this was the Messiah. He baptized Jesus and a voice spoke from heaven, "This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased".
