Like all bullies, Malfoy can't take what he dishes out. After countless criticisms of both Harry and Ron's parents, Malfoy became enraged when Harry made a rude remark about Malfoy's mother. Malfoy attacked Harry as Harry was walking away, Harry turned to respond, but Mad-Eye got to Malfoy first.

Many students at Hogwarts refused to believe Harry's protestations of innocence, but it was Ron's opinion that mattered the most. With five older brothers, and a best friend known through out the wizarding attention. However Harry was hurt by Ron's refusal to believe him. This feud lasted until after the first task when Ron realized just what Harry was up against.

It was because this mark was darkening, marking the return of Voldemort's strength, that Karkaroff kept pestering Snape.

Cedric was the one who suggested that Harry take the egg with him when he went for a bath, but it was Moaning Myrtle who told him to open it underwater while he himself was underwater to listen to it. She was also the one who prodded him into realizing that the voices he heard belonged to merpeople.

Harry, Hermione and Ron spent hours unsuccessfully trying to find a charm or a spell that would help. Harry fell asleep in the library where Dobby woke him ten minutes before the second task was to begin.
