Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When I think outdoors, I think nature. So maybe I could find a forest or another outdoor area, take a walk, and just admire nature at its finest. What hobby is this?

Answer: Hiking

Hiking is basically taking a walk outdoors in nature. Some national parks will have hiking trails for guests to travel along and explore.
2. Some other things I like about nature are the creatures in it. So maybe I can focus on one in particular. I can take binoculars and a recorder, just in case I want to keep a record of their beautiful songs. What would this hobby be?

Answer: Bird watching

When you bird watch, you can watch and listen for different species of birds. You can record the different sounds you hear, and keep track of what you see in a log book.
3. Maybe I should try moving my legs a little faster. I could use some type of equipment. A bike would probably do the trick. But what kind of hobby would require a bike?

Answer: Cycling

Cycling is a great way to get some exercise outside. Some parks have bike trails for people to ride their bikes on.
4. Maybe some kind of technological hobby is right for me. There is one that calls for a GPS and these things called caches. What is this hobby?

Answer: Geocaching

Geocaching is like a virtual treasure hunt. Be prepared for some walking, and remember to be considerate of the environment. See how many caches you can find!
5. I should probably head out somewhere different. The beach sounds nice. There, I could try using a board to ride the waves of the ocean. What could I try?

Answer: Surfing

Hang ten! For another extreme water sport, try body boarding or water skiing.
6. Maybe another water hobby might be a good idea. This way I can travel the water peacefully and get some exercise. What should I do?

Answer: Canoeing

Water skiing may provide exercise, but it also requires a lot of attention as you zoom around behind a motorboat, so is hardly peaceful. Riding a raft through rapids is also not particularly relaxing. Fishing can be done from the land or a boat - perhaps a canoe could combine two activities in one!
7. How about living among nature for a while? I can pitch a tent, make a fire to cook food, hike a trail, and sleep under the stars. What could I do?

Answer: Camping

While camping, you could do all three of the others on one trip. Let's take a chance and rough it!
8. Maybe something a little more extreme? I want to get my feet moving round pretty fast, and maybe on a little bit of rougher terrain. What could this extreme sport be?

Answer: Mountain biking

For this, you will need a special mountain bike and lots of protection in case of an accident. It's nothing like regular biking. Wait, now I'm having second thoughts.
9. How about something less dangerous? An outdoor game might be best. One with a short pole in the ground. And these U-shaped objects to throw around it. What could this game be?

Answer: Horseshoes

You can play this with friends and see who rings the most horseshoes! Players can handicap those of different strength by allowing younger/weaker players to toss their horseshoes from a position closer to the target.
10. In the end, I think I'm going to settle for an activity at home. Something easy: taking care of flowers and planting new ones while I'm at it. What is it?

Answer: Gardening

Flowers and plants need plenty of sunshine and water to create a beautiful garden! This means I can spend many hours pottering around in my garden.
