Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the old man Voldemort kills at the Riddle House? (the gardener, not his grandfather)

Answer: Frank Bryce

Frank Bryce had been the gardener for Lord Voldemort's father and paternal grandparents until he killed them. Frank Bryce stayed on as gardener for every family that owned the Riddle House until the day he died.
2. On the night the Riddles were killed, their cook ran down to the local pub in Little Hangleton to gossip about what had happened. What was the name of the pub?

Answer: The Hanged Man

The Hog's Head is the pub in Hogsmeade that Hagrid frequents. The Riddle's cook, Dot, was the one who rushed down to the pub to inform everyone of their deaths. No one believed Frank Bryce when he said that he had seen a dark-haired, pale teenage boy near the house the day of the murders...
3. The night Harry woke up from the "nightmare" of seeing Voldemort kill the old Muggle man, what book had he fallen asleep reading?

Answer: "Flying with the Cannons"

This was a book about Ron's favorite quidditch team that he had given Harry as a present. "A History of Magic" was the book Harry had been reading at the beginning of "Prisoner of Azkaban", and "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" are books talked about and are supplemental to the HP books.
4. Harry decides to write a letter to Sirius about his scar hurting. He tried to make the letter sound casual as he didn't want anyone to make a big deal about it. In keeping it casual, he told Sirius that Dudley had thrown which of his possessions out the window?

Answer: His PlayStation

Harry thought this was a "bit stupid really, now he hasn't even got Mega-Mutilation Part Three to take his mind off things." Oh...poor Dudders!
5. Over breakfast the morning Harry receives his invitation to the Quidditch World Cup from the Weasleys, what newspaper is Uncle Vernon reading?

Answer: The Daily Mail

All four of these are actual daily newspapers in London. Anyone who answers this question correctly due to knowledge, not guesswork, is a die-hard HP fan! Congratulations!
6. Over the same breakfast on the morning Harry receives his invitation to the Quidditch World Cup, what did Aunt Petunia serve everyone to eat?

Answer: Grapefruit

One "quarter" (though Dudley's portion was much larger than Harry's) of an unsweetened grapefruit...mmm...yummy! Poor Harry! Just because Dudley had "reached roughly the size and weight of a young killer whale", the Dursleys tried to force Dudley's new diet on him. Luckily, Harry has some great friends who came to his rescue.
7. What does Ron call his owl?

Answer: Pig

Ginny named his little owl Pigwidgeon...lol no wonder Ron calls him Pig!
8. When Ron's owl delivers his letter to Harry, Harry learns that Percy has gotten a job at the Ministry of Magic in London. In which department is he working?

Answer: Department of International Magical Cooperation

Percy is working as an assistant to the head of the department, Bartemius Crouch, his new hero. We find that London isn't too far away from the Burrow for a Weasley twin prank: ""I shudder to think what the state of my in-tray would be if I was away from work for five days." "Yeah, someone might slip dragon dung in it again, eh, Perce?" said Fred. "That was a sample of fertilizer from Norway!" said Percy, going very red in the face. "It was nothing personal!" "It was," Fred whispered to Harry as they got up from the table. "We sent it.""
9. The day the Weasleys arrived to pick up Harry, what did Aunt Petunia serve for lunch?

Answer: Cottage cheese and grated celery

Unfortunately for Dudley, he chose to eat Fred and George's Ton Tongue Toffee for dessert! I've heard rumors that the Dursleys won't be appearing at all in the new "Goblet of Fire" movie. That's a real shame, as I imagine this would have made for quite a funny scene!
10. Along with batteries, what does Mr. Weasley tell the Dursleys that he collects?

Answer: Plugs

"My wife thinks I'm mad, but there you are." Then again, this is coming from the same man who pronounces electricity as "eckeltricity"!
11. When Dudley's tongue is growing to an enormous size, Mr. Weasley tries to help, knowing that its a simple Engorgement Charm that is causing it. Mr. Dursley however is not impressed and proceeds to pick what off the fireplace mantle to throw at Mr. Weasley?

Answer: China Figure

Luckily for Harry, Mr. Weasley urged him to go ahead to the Burrow, though he only nearly missed being hit by another one of the china figures!
12. True or False: Charlie Weasley is built like Fred and George; shorter and stockier than Ron and Percy.

Answer: True

Ron and Percy are described as long and lanky. Bill though, is described as cool...which surprised Harry, as he had always pictured Bill as an older version of Percy because they had both been Head Boy at Hogwarts.
13. Percy sticks his head out his bedroom window to bellow at Bill and Charlie for making too much noise (they were making two tables fly into each other, trying to knock the legs off each other's table!). What floor do we find out Percy's bedroom is on?

Answer: 2nd

Percy was busy writing his report on standardizing cauldron thickness. Apparently, "leakages have been increasing at a rate of almost three percent a year"! As Ron says, "That'll change the world, that report will...Front page of the Daily Prophet, I expect, cauldron leaks." Poor Percy, always the boring prat!
14. Which country did Bertha Jorkins go on holiday to?

Answer: Albania

Albania was the country Voldemort had been rumored to be in last. Yugoslavia is no longer a country, Bulgaria is the country Viktor Krum plays Quidditch for, and Serbia is one of the countries created when Yugoslavia dissolved.
15. All of the countries located in the British Isles lost early at the playoffs for the World Cup.

Answer: False

Ireland was one of the finalists, eventually winning the Quidditch World Cup, though Krum of Bulgaria caught the Snitch!
I realize that only Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but the book didn't specify if they were talking about Northern Ireland or Ireland. If you take the context of the conversation, they're talking about all of the UK Quidditch Teams, including "Ireland". So, because the book didn't specify Northern Ireland or Ireland, neither did I. The question asks about countries located in the British Isles, of which Ireland is one.
