Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the maximum height a player can rise up to during a game of Quidditch?

Answer: There is no restriction

There is no limit set for the height a player may rise, but the player must stay within the boundary lines of the pitch. If a player flies over a boundary line, his or her team will have to surrender the quaffle to the the opposing team.

Question by sahil2305
2. In a game of Quidditch, a beater can hit the opposing team's keeper with the bludger.

Answer: False

A beater is not allowed to hit the bludger toward the keeper of the opposing team. They can, however, hit the bludger towards the chasers or beaters.

Question by dvilangl
3. What is the only time in a Quidditch match when a player may touch his feet on the ground?

Answer: Time Out

The captain of a team signals for "time out" by signalling the referee. That is the only time during the match when a player may touch the ground with his or her feet. If a game has lasted more than twelve hours, the time out can be as long as two hours. If the team does not return to the pitch after two hours, the referee disqualifies the team.

Question by sahil2305
4. What shape can a Quidditch pitch be?

Answer: Oval

A Quidditch pitch is usually an oval shape which is 500 feet in length and 180 feet wide. It has six hoops in all, three at each end. The chaser of one team has to put the quaffle in the opposing team's hoops and the keeper of the team defends the hoops.

Question by VampireBabez
5. How many people are there on each Quidditch team?

Answer: 7

There are 14 players on the pitch during a game, seven players on each team: three chasers, two beaters, a keeper and a seeker. One of the players for each team is the captain.

Question by VampireBabez
6. Are there any substitutions for Quidditch players when they get badly hurt?

Answer: No

Even if a player has been badly hurt, no substitute may go onto the pitch in their place. The injured player is taken off the pitch and that team plays with a player less, that is with 6 players (unless another player gets injured!).

Question by VampireBabez
7. How many ways are there to commit a foul in Quidditch?

Answer: 700

There are 700 ways to commit a foul in Quidditch, although we only see about ten in the 'Harry Potter' books. It is said that all 700 fouls were committed in the final of the first Quidditch World Cup in 1437. The players may take a wand onto the pitch but must never use the wand against another player, another broom, the referee, any balls or crowd members watching the game.

Question by sahil2305
8. A Quidditch game is over when a team scores more than 300 points.

Answer: False

A Quidditch game is over when one of the seekers catches the golden snitch. The seeker who catches the snitch wins 150 instant points for his/her team. So, apparently if both the seekers get injured a Quidditch game may never end.

Question by sahil2305
9. How many points does a team gain if one of its chasers puts the quaffle in one of the opposing team's hoops?

Answer: 10

A team gets 10 points if one of its three chasers beats the opposing team's keeper and puts the quaffle in one of the three hoops. Chasers of opposite teams may take the quaffle from his/her grasp but must not touch any part of the other person's body.

Question by sahil2305
10. How many balls are used while playing a Quidditch match?

Answer: 4

While playing Quidditch, there are four balls on the pitch: two bludgers, one quaffle and one golden snitch. A quaffle is a big red ball which a team's chaser tries to put in the opposing team's hoops. A bludger is a medium sized ball that moves on its own (not exactly moves, I should say RUNS), trying to hit players on the field. A team's beaters hit the bludgers with clubs, preventing them from hitting players in their team. A golden snitch is a small ball with silver wings, moving at lightning speed. A team's seeker tries to catch the snitch and finish the game.
