Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the difference between the front paw strike and the front paw blow?

Answer: In the front paw strike, claws are unsheathed, but in a front paw blow, claws are sheathed.

Front paw strikes are usually with claws unsheathed and can be anywhere. However, front paw blows are usually on the head with claws sheathed.
2. What is it called when cats who have trained and fought together fall into a paired defense position?

Answer: Partner fighting.

Partner fighting is a good defense and even better when the cats are good friends. They know each other's moves and can watch the other's back.
3. Why is the killing bite used only as a last resort?

Answer: It is sometimes considered dishonorable.

The killing bite is swift and silent. Given to the back of the neck, this move can be considered dishonorable.
4. When using the back kick against an opponent, what part of the body is the most weight balanced on?

Answer: The front legs and paws.

One reason why it's called the 'back kick' is because of the fact that you would use your back legs and paws. So, in theory, the weight would be balanced on the front legs and paws.
5. When would playing dead come in handy?

Answer: When in a tight situation.

If you're in control, you'd better watch out! Your opponent may use this move against you. If pinned, stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent begins to relax his or her grip, explode up and this will throw your opponent off guard. This is demonstrated by Firestar against Scourge in "The Darkest Hour."
6. A group of apprentices used this move in "The Darkest Hour" to defeat Bone. The countermove to this is the drop-and-roll. You grip your opponent's back with your claws. What move is this?

Answer: Leap-and-hold

Interestingly enough, this move is similar to the teeth grip, with an exception. The leap-and-hold uses the claws to hold on, but the teeth grip uses the teeth to grip, leaving your claws free to fight.
7. In which move would you use your claws and rake them across your opponent's belly?

Answer: Belly Rake.

This move has been called a fight stopper. This move will help put you in control if you are pinned.
8. Which move involves a possible wrestling match with your opponent?

Answer: The Upright Lock.

If your opponent uses the same move of rearing up to crash the front paws down on the other, cats will have to wrestle. When one cat is flipped to the ground, it exposes the attacker to the belly rake.
9. What part of the body is targeted in the scruff shake?

Answer: The scruff.

You grip the scruff with your teeth and shake. This move would be used to the most effect with rats, and a strong throw can stun or kill a rat. An interesting fact-all of the places listed above would be targeted in the teeth grip.
10. Which of these would be targeted in the teeth grip?

Answer: All of these.

The legs would also be targeted. It is similar to the leap-and-hold with the exception that the claws are free to fight in this move.
