Answer: Genesis

Genesis means "beginning" and is the very first book of the Bible! It starts out with how God made the earth in six days and rested on the seventh. It also tells the story of Adam and Eve's sin, when they were tempted by Satan. Other stories in Genesis include Noah and the flood, the tower of Babel, Abraham's faith, Jacob, and Joseph and his brethren.

Answer: Exodus

Moses wrote the book of Exodus, which tells of the Israelites escape from Egypt and their hard times through the wilderness. During the time Israel was in the wilderness, God gave them the law, including the Ten Commandments. These were rules for how God wanted his people to live.

Answer: Joshua

The Israelites made it to the promised land but they had to get rid of the people that were already there. The book of Joshua records some of those battles. The first battle was crossing the Jordan and facing Jericho. Jericho had some very high walls and seemed impossible to conquer.

However God gave Joshua his plan, telling the Israelites to march around the wall for seven days. The last time they marched around the wall, Israel shouted for joy and the walls fell down.

Psalms had a large part of it written by King David, who was a shepherd boy before he became a king of Israel. It also has songs written by the Israelites when they were in captivity, and songs written by men about how God delivered them from their enemies.

King Solomon asked God for wisdom when he began his reign. God was so impressed he gave Solomon wisdom along with wives, gold, land, animals, and peace. Solomon wrote many of his wise saying down in Proverbs. The book has tons of wisdom that still helps us today!

Judges tells the story of Samson,the strongest man alive! However he wasn't the smartest. Samson killed many enemies for God's people but he did not keep his vow to God. He fell in love with a woman who arranged to cut his hair and broke his vow. Samson prayed to God and told him he was sorry. God let Samson have one more chance and with it Samson killed many Philistines by pushing down the pillars of the temple during a feast.

Answer: Esther

Esther was a Jew in Persia who lived with her uncle, Mordecai. When the king got rid of his wife because she disobeyed him, his advisers hosted a beauty contest to find him a new wife. Esther was one of the women selected and won! However an evil man named Haman disliked Mordecai because he would not bow down to him. Haman convinced the king to sign a law that would kill all of the Jews.

However Esther saved the day by going to the king first. You can be a hero by doing what is right even when it is scary!

Answer: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John recorded the stories of Jesus' life. They wrote down the teachings, healings, and acts he did while he was on the earth. More importantly they told how Jesus died on Calvary to redeem the world, and rose again on the third day. These books are called gospels or "good news" because they tell how Jesus came to be salvation for the world!

Answer: Acts

Acts records the events that happened right after Jesus was raised from the dead. It records the day of Pentecost, the first death of a Christian, and also how the church went from house to house and country to country spreading the Gospel. It also tells of Peter's works and Paul's missionary journeys.

Bonus Fact: Acts and the book of Luke were written by the same author, the apostle Luke!

Answer: Revelation

Revelation is one of the biggest book of hope in the Bible for God's saints, and one of the scariest books of doom for those who do not serve God. It tells of God's plans to return and save his saints. It also tells how God plans to destroy the earth and have the complete victory over the Devil.

It was written by the apostle John, and John tells the church to be ready for the Lord's return.
