But, since the fall down the hill, Jack has headaches sometimes, and when he falls he tends to land on his head.

Answer: The one on the left

First of all, there is no egg in the middle, and IF one were hiding behind the one on the right, it would be smaller than that one.
The egg on the left is from an ostrich (it's been cleaned out and decorated), and could have been used to feed 20 people. Ostriches lay the largest eggs of all birds, and they are the fastest long distance runners on earth. The one on the right is a chicken's egg.

3. Jack's now having a leisurely trip on a boat he found. What kind is it?

Answer: A Viking boat

This is a small model of a Viking longboat. Often the sides of the boat were hung with the warriors' shields. The boat was built for speed and had many men rowing. It was also easily maneuvered both on the high seas and in shallow and narrow waterways. Jack likes this boat because he knows his ancestors were vikings, brave explorers and big, sturdy people.

4. Uh-oh, Jack seems to be trying to protect himself from something. But what is he trying to wear that's a wee bit too large for him?

Answer: A disposable face mask

This type of mask is made of thin paper and is easy enough to breathe through. The side pieces fit over the ears so that it covers the nose and mouth only. It might be useful if there were an outbreak of infectious disease. It's not going to help Jack's headache.

5. Jack goes out to the barnyard and looks around for his friend, Sam. Looking at the photo, what does he find instead?

Answer: Duck and duckling

Just your average duck, and little ducklings are not ugly. They're just different. Sometimes when you see something unusual or different it appears that it doesn't fit and we think it's ugly. In Andersen's story "The Ugly Duckling", the poor cygnet thought he was supposed to be a duck, and he didn't look like the other ducks, so they thought he was ugly.

6. Jack suddenly thinks about someone who always makes him feel happy. She's the friend with whom he went up the hill in the first place, to fetch a pail of water. Using the photo as a clue, who might this be?

8. Ah, there's the good doctor, Sam. He's been thinking on some of his recent cases, and coming up with new formulas, remedies and wondering if he can travel to other planets through mind-medicine. What is he having now?

Answer: A cat nap

Cats are known to meditate a lot - most of the day in fact. But imagine all the wonderful ideas and discoveries they have developed during these mysterious musings. Catacombs, catafalques, catastrophes, catamarans, cathesis, catapults. Can you think of any other cat-words?
The doctor is also Jack's guru, and appears to him via strong brain waves that send healing prions to the receiver. Most cats don't let people know they have this great power unless there's a very special connection between cat and person.
If the mind meld works Jack will see an eerie image that will guide him to healthful and spiritual comfort.

9. Out of nowhere comes this very image into Jack's brain, and he gazes at it and thinks about all the good things in his life. After fifteen minutes of this, Jack begins to feel much better and, feeling no pain, he begins to think of a jingly, merry, seasonal holiday that brings joy to many people around the world. Which one?

Answer: Christmas

Dr Sam's glowing eyes remind Jack of lights on the Christmas tree, and suddenly Jack is filled with the spirit of joy. He plans to make a nice dinner for friends and family for Christmas eve, probably roast duck or pork, roasted potatoes and onions, gravy, red cabbage, and other goodies. And for dessert 'ris alamond', a cooked and chilled rice dish with ground almonds and whipped cream folded in, served with raspberry or strawberry sauce. Somewhere in the bowl is a whole unpeeled almond and one lucky person will find it and get a prize. Jack thanks his guru buddy and gives him a bowl of cream. Sam purrs loudly, and reminds Jack that it is never necessary to use a phone to reach him.

10. Jack's decided to decorate for the holidays. The message on this decoration means "Happy Christmas" in what language?

Answer: Danish

This greeting is usually followed by "Godt Nyt Aar" (Happy New Year). Many years ago people would light candles on the Christmas tree, but there were fires, so electric lights are usually used now. Many of the tree decorations are handmade, and Christmas eve is when one celebrates in Scandinavia. On Christmas Day, one relaxes or visits neighbors or friends.
