Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Manganese Bronze are famous as the manufacturers of what british icon?

Answer: London Black Cabs

The TX range was introduced in 1997 to replace the possibly more iconic FX4 range which had been manufactured since 1958. Although it is illegal to privately run a London Taxi, the Austin FL2 was made without Taxi spec for the paying public. Although largely unpopular, famous owners include The Duke of Edinburgh and comedian Stephen Fry.
Routemaster buses were made by AEC between 1954 and 1968. They are absolutely iconic to London, although they can be found in many guises worldwide. Much loved, but fuel thirsty, and unsuitable for many disabled passengers, they were eventually phased out of public use in December 2005.
Royal Mail postboxes have been a street feature on mainland Britain since 1853, and there are still many original type postboxes with the Victoria crest in existence. And in similarly visible red, phone booths once common across the country are now a rare sight owing to the advent of the mobile phone, neglect and vandalism.
2. At Northala Fields in Northolt, London, beside the A40 there are four man-made hills. What are those hills made out of?

Answer: Spoil and rubble from the old Wembley Stadium

The original Wembley Stadium was completed in 1923, and the first cup final to be played there was between Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United. It is known as the White Horse final as thousands of fans poured into the ground, but were coralled by 'Billy', a now famous white police horse. Bolton won 2-0 and there were 126,000 official fans at the game.

The new Wembley Stadium was completed in 2007 at a total cost of nearly £800m, as opposed to the £750,000 it cost to build the original.
3. The British Royal Mint is located in which part of the UK?

Llantrisant slightly north west of Cardiff, has been minting British coins since 1968 and exclusively since 1980. Previously the mint had moved through various London locations. Since 2008 the very familiar range of British coin designs has been radically changed so that between all coins from 1p to 50p, they make up the Royal Shield of Arms.
