Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Australian Rugby Union team gets its name from which animal?

Answer: wallaby

The Australian Rugby Team is indeed known as the Wallabies. The origin of this name dates back to the early 1900s. According to the official Rugby Australia website, the team got their nickname when the New Zealand team got theirs (the All Blacks, because of their black clothing), and it was suggested that the Aussies be named after an animal.

The idea of the Rabbits was tossed around, but it was given the flick, as the team did not want to be named after an imported pest. They eventually settled on the Wallabies, a native animal, resembling a small kangaroo.
2. British band Madness had a hit with which song, reaching number three on the UK Singles Charts?

Answer: Baggy Trousers

"Baggy Trousers" was released as a single in 1980, from Madness' second album, "Absolutely". The song, written by frontman Suggs, reflects on the days of school.
3. What was the maiden name of Daphne, from the 1990s sitcom "Frasier"?

Answer: Moon

Daphne Moon, played by Jane Leeves, was a Manchester-born girl, who emigrated to the USA, and became the housekeeper to radio psychiatrist Frasier Crane, and his elderly father. With all her eccentricities, she was still a well-loved member of the Crane family.
4. Someone who is docile and vulnerable, and would rather follow others than lead them, is likened to what animal?

Answer: Sheep

People who prefer to follow than lead are often described as sheep, such as in the expression "followed like sheep". Perhaps the most common area that this occurs in is at schools, particularly in the first year of high school, when there are plenty of new students.
5. What is the name of the strait that separates the islands of the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago, off the coast of South America?

Answer: Beagle Channel

The eastern section of the Beagle Channel forms part of the border between Argentina and Chile. The western section is entirely inside Chile.
6. A famous sketch from comedy troupe Monty Python is known simply as "The ______ Shop Sketch". What goes in the blank?

Answer: Cheese

"The Cheese Shop Sketch" is a classic Monty Python sketch, in which John Cleese goes into a cheese shop for some cheese, but the shop owner, Michael Palin, doesn't seem to have any of the cheese that Cleese's character wants. Cleese asks for over 25 cheeses, none of which are in stock.
7. "Mouse Trap", the popular Milton Bradley board game, has the slogan "A game of zany action on a crazy ___________." What goes in the blank?

Answer: contraption

The game "Mouse Trap" was first published in 1963. The main purpose of the game is to build the mouse trap, consisting of multiple sections that ultimately allow a cage to fall and 'trap' any mouse that is on the square underneath the cage.
8. Which of these is part of the dark blue colour set on the board of the UK version of Monopoly?

Answer: Park Lane

Park Lane is the second most expensive property on the board, and is part of the dark blue colour group, along with Mayfair. The property costs £350, and, if there is a hotel on it, any other player landing on it will have to pay a hefty £1500.
9. What type of food has the types white, brown, multi-grain, rye and soy-linseed, to name a few?

Answer: Bread

Bread is the staple food that many of us enjoy in the morning, covered in butter and other spreads. Scientists have researched bread, and found it to be one of the oldest prepared foods, dating back to the Neolithic era, some 10,000 years ago.
10. So, have a look back at the previous 9 questions. All the answers point to the common bond of this quiz. If you think you know it, type it in.
