Rainbow in Victoria, Australia, is south of the equator, whereas the other three locations in the USA are in the northern hemisphere. The farming town of Rainbow in Australia is approximately 250 miles north-west of Melbourne with a small population of just over 500 people.

The township was named after an area nearby where a ridge of colourful wildflowers grew that resembled the shape of a rainbow.
